Caught just enough of the Blue Jays game yesterday to remember why I haven't watched much over the past thirty years. It's like re-discovering why you turned to despair in the first place.

What's hard to appreciate outside of Canada is how much Canadians, broadly speaking, loved John Candy the person, or at least the person we saw and felt we knew. John Candy and Terry Fox are, I think, the only people Canadians pretty universally loved-- and still love long afterwards.
