The JTown community turned out today for Steve Nakajo, Fire Commissioner for nearly 3 decades, as we recognized him this AAPI Heritage Month!

Across the country, 13 states have banned abortion. Some states have done so even in cases of miscarriage and stillbirth. And enforced against it with criminal penalties. This means that if people move to SF from these states, their "records" could be used against them in employment or housing.

Today we honored Code Tenderloin with an EMS Community Award, in recognition of their support of the broader San Francisco emergency medical services system.

Across the country, people are being criminalized for accessing reproductive and gender-based care. 13 states have outlawed abortion. 28 states have criminalized gender expression. So today, I am announcing legislation to strengthen reproductive and gender-based protections in San Francisco.

A Hayes Valley neighbor reached out about faded crosswalk striping at Fulton & Laguna - a safety concern for people walking in the neighborhood. So we got to work with SFMTA to follow up, track the request, and make sure it didn't fall through the cracks.

Today was Immigrant Family Day at City Hall, and we met with Arab families in San Francisco that have been served by some amazing organizations that do so much for the Tenderloin and broader immigrant communities.

What's the future of bikes and transportation on Market Street? We're holding a hearing at the Board of Supervisors on Monday, April 27 at 1PM to find out. In preparation, I went on a bike ride along Market Street with the Market Street Moving Alliance to see how it's going today.

Today to commemorate the 1 year anniversary of the Timbri Hotel, they announced a donation to SFUSD's Tenderloin Community School When the Timbri first opened, their general manager Justin reached out to our office. Not to ask how the city could help him, but to ask how he could help the community.

April is Autism Appreciation Month, and for the first time we hosted a training for City Hall staff on how to work better with the neurodivergent community.

In honor of Earth Day, we recognized the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Cleanup - a group of volunteers who have collectively hosted 150 cleanups, collected 5700 bags of trash, and removed over 74,000 gallons of waste from our streets.
