We grieve the passing of George Gresham, a leader in the New York State union movement who served as head of 1199SEIU alongside members in the healthcare field. His tenure was groundbreaking, and all will miss his leadership and friendship in the weeks to come. May he rest in power.

This week is National Nurses Week and we honor those who answer the call to care for their communities. To all members of the Westchester and Bronx community who serve as nurses - thank you for choosing to do the tireless work necessary to support our neighbors.

Last week, I had some special guests in D.C.! The Lefell School brought a class of high school sophomores to learn how to be political advocates and to pitch ideas on legislation surrounding poverty, homelessness, and protections for children in domestic violence situations.

Bronx programs serve nearly 43% of New York State's TRIO Talent Search and EOC students. The Trump Administration's FY26 grant applications would cut both programs by two-thirds and shift TRIO away from college access.

Trump’s DOJ, for 10 months, has been investigating the Instagram post made by James Comey. No months were spent investigating the Epstein Files and those who were survivors of sexual abuse. This warped behavior shows the design created to satisfy one man’s need for revenge.

Today in a joint session of congress, King Charles III gave an uplifting address and spoke of the common heritage and common destiny that the U.S. and the UK share. This type of speech is what we should expect from our nation’s leaders and look for from those representing us on a global stage.

Gas prices are skyrocketing while only concepts of a plan to end to this war are being mentioned. It’s time for real reform to address the rising costs and the pressures weighing on the American people.

I was able to speak to BronxNet about the importance of maintaining a strong community access television program that best enriches the community they serve. Connecting communities starts with informed residents, and BronxNet is helping make that possible by providing reliable local news.

I am proud to join my colleague Congressman Joe Morelle in introducing the Poll Worker Tax Cut Act. This bill encourages people to become poll workers and perform a critical public service every election cycle by making their poll worker pay tax free.

On this Tax Day, Americans are filing their taxes in hopes of getting a return that will absorb the rising cost of living. Despite promises of a significant increase in their annual refunds from the Trump administration and congressional Republicans, Americans are once again being let down.

This weekend, I joined Co-Op City NAACP members for an engaging meeting on how we can better our partnerships and be of service at the federal level to their mission of justice and equality for all.

This past week in D.C., I met with local leaders from the Brain Aneurysm Foundation and Philanthropy New York to learn more about their upcoming legislative priorities and how we can amplify them at the federal level. Thanks for the visit!

Trump campaigned on making life more affordable for Americans and avoiding costly foreign wars. Now, Americans are paying the price of war at the gas pump, with costs per gallon rising daily as the conflict in the Middle East continues.

I joined local leaders in the Bronx to come together and address the thousands of community members at risk of losing their healthcare coverage. Hearing directly from those affected reinforced my decision to vote NO on the proposed Medicaid cuts.
