It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Malaysia’s AI ethics guidelines (AIGE) are voluntary right now. Its set of data laws (PDPA) hasn’t caught up with AI yet, meaning a ton of personal financial info will be collected, processed, and utilized without much codified oversight.

It's easy to dismiss this as garbage in/garbage out. It's also easy to say, "Yes, but people also misuse hammers, icepicks, and other tools." But a hammer can only hammer one nail at a time. With bad data hygiene, harm can happen *at scale*.

I recently spoke with a consultant attempting to utilize AI to streamline processes in the oilfield industry, at the ground level. After a long back and forth, we realized that the resistance to adoption wasn't technical inadequacy but 'cultural inertia' in the organization.
