I was reading about Oystercatcher eyes (as one does) and leaned that its one of the most accurate ways to field gender. N99 & her mate pictured here. Females have much more flecking in their eyes. A good comparison here between N99& mate. Cool to learn something new

Had double the luck when not 1, but 2 least bitterns decided to give me some nice looks. These shy marsh dwellers aren't often out in the open. I was lucky to see these 2 within a few hundred feet of each other. First time seeing one in 3 years!
