This is the second long-term deal Milwaukee has done this season with a player before his big league debut, following the eight-year, $50.75 million contract shortstop Cooper Pratt agreed to early in the season. Pratt remains at Triple-A, as will Lara for the time being.

Outfield prospect Luis Lara and the Milwaukee Brewers are in agreement on a seven-year, $31 million contract extension that includes three club options, sources tell ESPN. Lara, 21, has dominated Triple-A this season. Deal maxes out at $79 million.

I’ve been watching a lot of the Juco World Series this week on ESPN+, and it’s the purest form of baseball I’ve seen in ages. No K zone. No radar gun. Dodgy field. Just guys chasing dreams and a ring. I couldn't love it more. Especially considering this is who’s pitching tonight.

The Toronto Blue Jays are calling up infield prospect Charles McAdoo, a source tells ESPN. A 13th-round pick in 2023, McAdoo has played first, second and third base this season, when he has hit .250/.356/.436 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs at Triple-A.

Major League Baseball is expected to make its first proposal to the union tomorrow. Owners have long planned to push for a salary cap, and the details of it will set the stage for the labor battle leading up to the Dec. 1 expiration of the current collective-bargaining agreement.

The MLBPA's proposal maintains the game's current financial structure with significant changes. The revenue-sharing proposal aims to increase money given to lower-revenue teams but forces them to direct that money to the major league team. Many more dollars going to players, too.

- Changes to the revenue-sharing system that would distribute more money from local television revenue but decrease the amount distributed from in-stadium revenue -- to incentivize teams that win and draw larger crowds - Free agency for players who are 30 at 5+ years of service

The MLBPA made its first proposal to MLB today in collective bargaining. Among the topline issues: - A "competitive-integrity tax" for any team that does not spend $150M - Increase minimum salary from $780,000 to $1.5M - Increase in base CBT threshold from $244M to $300M

The Athletics are calling up Gage Jump, one of the best left-handed pitching prospects in baseball, sources tell ESPN. Jump, 23, runs his fastball up to 97 and has struck out 56 in 38 innings at AAA. He was part of what's shaping up to be a very interesting draft class in 2024.

Veteran reliever Nick Anderson, who has pitched well at Triple-A for the A’s, has retired, according to his agent, Matt Gaeta. Anderson, 35, submitted the paperwork yesterday. Anderson was a first-team All-MLB reliever In 2020 and threw 173 innings over six big league seasons.

He is also the only one with a Pokémon bathroom.
