13th January 2026 Welcome to ‘George & Mildred’, the ‘bin chickens’ (Australian White Ibis), who are our latest “fly ins”. The backyard looks like a bird sanctuary atm. We have water, a backyard full of grubs, and occasional treats, as well as being their entertainment when we’re in the kitchen.

10th January 2026 Trip into Melbourne with a carload of stuff for husband’s son’s apartment - then out of the rat race and back into the hills.

9th January 2026 Trentham skies today. With conditions as they were, we monitored the areas to our N-W-S watching for new fires all day. We’ve been lucky. Just a couple of lines of storms to come through. Hopefully no lightning considering the current conditions, or 50mm of rain would be nice.

6th January 2026 F & I spent a lovely late morning watching the world in Daylesford. That satisfied one of my New Year’s resolutions which is to slow down. My other resolution, the same one I’ve made every year since I was 20, to write legibly, is not proving to be nearly as successful.

15th December 2025 I can’t remember the last time I saw a rhododendron in full flower a week before Christmas. We came back from the north in summer and I immediately took my sandals off and put socks and runners on. Knee length pants became full length and Clyve is back in tshirts.
