Urban Planning Diary Day 4 Found this gem today. A much better use for a parking spot than a parked car if you ask me. It’s beautiful, easy to set up, neat, adds greenery, and will host multiple restaurant patrons who will bring social life to this street. Great stuff.

Urban Planning Diary Day 3 Caught the sun shining on this lovely pedestrian path. The textured ground cover instead of bare pavement communicates that this is a place for pedestrians, not cars. It invites foot traffic. Design details like this subconsciously shape behavior.

Urban Planning Diary Day 2 This mother passed me today, transporting her children in a cargo bike. The kids were enjoying themselves, she didn’t seem to struggle with the task, everyone got fresh air, & no air was polluted in the process. Why again do we rely on cars for everything?

Why We Need Social Hubs and How to Make Them
A social hub is a place where the mix of amenities, assets, and activities creates an environment that people enjoy frequenting, making it a social hotspot in a community.

Urban Planning Diary Day 1 Today I saw a boy having fun playing a game that was painted on the street. Interactive street/sidewalk art is a great form of
#placemaking
that gets people engaged with the public realm and makes streets more people-friendly.
