Most of my ramblings here are about the mighty #CFMTL but I also have a Substack about French football- amazingly I’ve just hit 100 subscribers! I haven’t spent much time on it this year, focusing more on my CFMTL blog which has a grand total of 9 subscribers! Perhaps i need to refocus my efforts!!

I hope the owners can see the transformation a proper coach has overseen with good people skills and experience. We might not become world beaters over night but we’re on track to something becoming a decent side… we’re just missing that attacking midfielder… #CFMTL

A reality check for #CFMTL against Chicago and a reminder of the levels that remain in MLS despite Eullaffroy’s recent rejuvenation. Still, we still competed and never gave up. I hope this defeat doesn’t put the hierarchy off of appointing Eullaffroy until the end of the season at least

A point mid week for Eullaffroy’s #CFMTL boys. I didn’t watch the match, but caught the highlights. Mes amis de Montréal, what was your verdict? A good point? Definitely a bit frustrating conceding a messy late-ish equaliser. Still, a point is better than what we used to get pre-Eullaffroy!

Do these results tells us more about Eullaffroy (and how good he is) or Donadel (and how bad he was)? Is this simply a new manager bounce or have the club stumbled on the permanent solution? I guess we should just enjoy the moment. It’s lovely feeling so confident heading into home matches! #CFMTL

Late catching up on #CFMTL game after a busy weekend but I’m glad I did! Another win, 4 out of 5. Great to see two subs make the difference. Three games before the break but it’ll be hard not to make Eullaffroy permanent with the difference he’s made in such a short time

It’s a big night for #CFMTL in the Canadian Championship. It’s a game we should win and that should provide an injection of important positivity after last weekend’s messy defeat. No slip ups, no mistakes, let’s see a big morale boosting win! Allez L’Impact!

That was a strange loss for #CFMTL. Leading comfortably before handing three goals to Atlanta who really didn’t do much at all to earn the win. A big test for any interim coach who starts well is when they taste their first defeat… I think we’ll learn a lot about Eullaffroy from here on

Some very interesting and effective subtle changes by Eullaffroy. Red Bulls’ kamikaze tactics did play into our hands but we were ruthless with our opportunities. Bigger challenges await but I do have a lovely sense of optimism and that comes from having genuine confidence in the coach. #CFMTL

What a superb win for #CFMTL and our new interim head coach! A great day for our long beleaguered fans too, finally a result and performance worthy of their passion and support!

Eullafrroy has been mentioned as a replacement: I’m not sure Luca Saputo will feel comfortable with appointing an experienced coach. Luca’s will feel insecure managing a coach who knows what he’s doing. Think that would also rule out someone like Jim Curtain (sadly) #CFMTL

If Donadel is sacked, what a terrible waste of an entire preseason… especially when the majority of fans could’ve told the hierarchy that he wasn’t the right man for the job. Why has it taken such a long time for the hierarchy to see what we all knew after 2-3 games of Donadel last season? #CFMTL

Absolutely disappointed with that #CFMTL. Gutted for our brilliant fans. I think it might have to be the end of the Donadel experiment. It just hasn’t worked out.

If Donadel does get the bullet, does anyone think it could be remotely plausible for Nancy to make a return?! I know he and Joey fell out spectacularly but he does have deep footballing roots in Montreal… Could he be persuaded?! #CFMTL

Good to see Bugaj back. He’s definitely our best right back. I thought Longstaff was good too. Jaime kept looking for the ball even though things weren’t always clicking for him. The whole team never gave up which is something #CFMTL

Tough one to take yesterday. The footballing gods weren’t on our side! When we were knocking on the door in the 2nd half Owusu looked tired. Felt like the right time for Rios to come on for him and step up and make a meaningful contribution - that was the point of signing him surely #CFMTL

A cruel result. 3-0 flattered the Revs. Gutted for the lads, they didn’t deserve that

I’ve undergone a shift in my view towards Donadel and his future as #CFMTL head coach. I think we should give him a whole season, let him take a proper swing at the job and judge him at the end… If we lose the next 5 matches 5-0 I might need to revise my view of course!!

I don’t advocate for a new coach (what a wasted preseason), even though I think Donadel didn’t pass a very long and generous audition last season. However, Luca Saputo is approaching a very tough decision very soon if more calamitous results take place #CFMTL

I watched the match a couple of hours after the original KO time and it’s hard to make sense of what we all saw. How did #CFMTL contrive to lose that match?!

The defeat to Orlando was such a disappointing follow up to last week’s win. (Sigh). Really was a great opportunity to get another positive result against a fragile opponent. Frustrating to see the defence looking so chaotic again! #CFMTL

Morales was very assured too. I really hope he can become a leader in this team. He has the attributes to be a really good defender. Carmona is an interesting player: lovely technique and an energetic presser. Lots to build on! Well done team and Donadel👏 finally some joy #CFMTL comrades!

So lovely to reflect on a #CFMTL win! It wasn’t a perfect performance but a big improvement. The switch to three at the back certainly helped: RBNY struggled to carve out scoring opportunities. Hard to highlight a star man but I thought Longstaff was very good, providing energy from box to box
