Saw Emperor (and Blood Incantation )) in Minneapolis last night. They did not disappoint.

I follow Tyler/Fathomless for being cool and other work but this is fantastic. Organic sounding, with the bass leading it takes on a very unique sound in modern metal. Like rhythm oriented black metal. No hyperbole this might end up on my albums of the year list in Black or Prog. #metalsky

This morning I learned tea totally comes from a tree but tea tree oil does not come from a tea tree. It comes from a melaleuca tree. Now you know too! Carry on.

Minneapolis post-black metal band Ashbringer released Subglacial yesterday and this is really good. Vocals very discernible with some heart wrenching introspective lyrics and great use of atmosphere and different styles and tempos. Really enjoyed this. ashbringermusic.bandcamp.com/album/subgla...

Malefic - Impermanence was a wickedly smooth, maybe a little too clean drumming, but excellent melodic blackened thrash album. Part Dissection and part Sarcator they put together a really nice album.
