Almost Munro Compleatist; generally not focused enough on the objective, too busy gawpin' aboot!
Great day Tuesday on Beinn Bhrotain and Monadh Mòr. Early start meant we chased the low cloud up the hill. Came and went on the tops in the morning but lifted after noon. And when it did...wow. Fabulous views into the Big Hills.

This is a not altogether brilliant photo of what my friend and I think is the outcome of a lightning strike near the summit of Leum Uilleim. At the source(?) of the strike dining table size rock had been up-ended and a 'plough-line' of disrupted rock tailed off into shallow peat. V.impressive!

Wonderful day out yesterday: train to Corrour and Beinn a' Bhric/ Leum Uilleim in great company. Improving weather, fabulous highland views and atmosphere, a spot of entomology and an estate venison burger before the train back to Crianlarich.

Birch seedling(s) at 870m on the summit of Beinn a' Bhric. Western side of Corrour Estate and a wonderful walk from the station at Corrour.

Stopped off at the Cult Cafe at Ullapool sharpish this morning. Tried leaving the village just as the Loch Seaforth was distorting...doh!

Now, I'm definitely not saying Mullach Clach a' Bhlàir is dull, no sir-ee but it's good enough reason never to do a second round of Munros. Down in the glen was lovely today though.

It was a great day out at Cruachan yesterday but boots needed airing on getting home. Example of Famous Last Words ..."mustn't forget the boots are out. It's going to tip it down overnight!" Anyway, now I've poured the water out they should be easily dried out by Thursday or Friday.

Today, the UK government intends to ban the non-violent protesters Palestine Action as a "terrorist" group, exposing anyone supporting them to terrorism charges. In 2 days, 380,000 people have watched this video on YT alone. You're going to need a bigger prison.

Two BIG days earlier this week: Beinn a'Bhuird and Beinn a'An and then Càrn a' Fhidhleir and An Sgarsoch. Good views of interesting raptors and very wide open hills. Developed shin splints for my troubles which might just put the kibosh on finishing my Munros this year 😥

This isn't even a section of a coup! It's the gravel at the top of a beach near the Kylerhea ferry. Quite a wild scenic area. We have a shocking disregard for the environment.

Fab day on Ladhar Bheinn today. Great boat trip over from Arnisdale with great craic from Peter. Challenging walking but amazing views. 35 years of admiring the hill from the other side of the Loch are satisfied and with bells on.

European larch at 740m on Sgòr Mòr in southern 'foothills' of the big Cairngorm hills. Maybe one day it will grow up, although the couple hundred deer we saw might have a say in that.

A beautiful but cold (-8⁰C windchill) trockle up Ben Vrackie today to see the early purple saxifrage, and well rewarded with perfect purple cushions on the rocks.

It was, as expected on such a good weather forecast, a busy Sunday around Coire Dhirich. No raptors, or ravens for that matter, but lots of white hares...as usual, and a few golden plover which might be heading away again for the next few days🥶

Not a lot of snow anywhere. Lochnagar or the main Cairngorms. Lovely moss heath on the top of Braid Cairn. And a bit blowy on Mount Keen. Nearly 56mph!

Had to go to Anstruther today, so took the chance to birdwatch along the coast for a few hours...oh and visit the Clocktower cafe in Pittenweem 😋 Great birdwatching and saw everything I hoped for plus a colour-ringed rock pipit. Anyone know who's ringing ripits...if that's a word? 😁

😱 what have I found?! Rohan catalogue from sometime in the 1980's. It was pretty weird at the time. Now? Still a bit weird. I had both bags and superstriders. Bags were pretty good really, if a bit 'off the wall'. My superstiders never went over my knees with cold spot between them and red socks!

Great (challenging) day out in the Cairngorms today. Through the pinewood and out onto the hill. Wee pine trees peeking out and getting blasted. -16⁰C on the top and a treat for the descent...½km of the hillwalkers favourite: breakable crust. Or should that be bl**dy breakable bl**dy crust!

A fruitless search for bearded reedlings this morning although to be fair the birds are quite small and the reedbeds are quite big!

Bit of 'off piste' hiking needed in our local wood after Éowyn visited last Friday. Mostly Scots pine knocked over although the larch and firs have shed loads of branches in fright!

I'm sure there'll be many hill photos this week but here's a couple on and from the relatively inconsequential An Casteal on Wednesday.

Spectacular Forth-Clyde inversion today: 8⁰C on the hill, -3.5⁰ in the murk. The 'Isle of West Lomond' identifiable. The blades of central belt turbines popping up like playful porpoises.

Spectacularly clear northern panorama from a cold West Lomond today. Warmed by the sight of a confiding group of 4-5 twite and a snow bunting on the track back to Craigmead. Which, as said on the telly, was nice!

Two of the seven Munros left in this photo. They'll be there next spring. Just need the knees to hold up...wonder how Santa's elves are with orthopedics 🤔
