The first place I have enjoyed nude forest bathing was destroyed by the wildfire that has burned over 90,000 acres over the last 8 days. It’s really sad to see all of the destruction and loss that we all are facing. I know that a fire does end up bringing about new growth but it’s still very sad.

Almost 48,000 acres tonight and no containment. The evacuation zone is just 3.5 miles from our city limits on the west side. That zone is not much further to our house. We really need rain. This fire is now the largest fire currently burning in Colorado.

The fire continues to grow and is at 35,467 acres and 0% contained. Evacuations have been expanded and have moved closer to my city and further into the mountain communities. Smoke is our major issues in the city as winds drive the smoke right at us.

We’ve gotten a lot of air support today with 7 air tankers and 2 multi mission aircraft flying the fire. In about an hour we should get an update. As of 12pm today the fire had grown about 5,000 acres to 28,314 acres and is still 0% contained.

Another look at the fire in the distance before the sun goes down. 23,000 acres as of last report with structures lost. A cold front is pushing south which should switch the winds from SW to NE and push the fire back onto the already burned areas. Hopefully that will stop progression.

Fire is 23,000 acres just after 5pm MST. Officials also report that 4 homes have been lost to the fire. It’s about 13-15 miles by way of a bird to the fire lines from our house. No pre-evac notices have been sent to our area as of now. And the wind has picked up here dispersing the smoke finally.

As of 4pm MST the fire is now at 10,000 acres and still 0% containment. The evacuation zone is about 9 miles away from our house.

We are socked in with thick smoke and ash falling. We are 45 minutes away from the end of the road evacuation zone.

On the heels of my blog post this morning. Yet another fire has started here in Colorado. This one is just southwest of where I live and you can see the smoke from the area. Have an evacuation plan and be ready!
