Today I hiked at Kilen Woods State Park, mainly the open areas which were less muddy. After the snow melts, the prairie grass is flat

Causeway to Loon Island on Lake Shetek, built by WPA. 1 mile loop almost completely snow & mud free, so nice I had to hike it twice! Loon Island was mistakenly named after cormorants they thought were loons. Then around 1930 they decided to kill all the cormorants so they did.

I didn't lug my big cameras, but I still tried with my phone. I like this green goo in water that wasn't frozen. Think that's alive in this water about exactly freezing temp?

Last June I went to Lake Shetek State Park, but there was Canadian fire smoke in the air. I wanted to see it differently, and it sure is different when it's solid. So quiet. No waves. No bugs.
