It's the Friday of our first full week of school and I just want to thank all the wonderful people who have taken the time to go to Donors Choose and helped teachers pay for items they will use in their classrooms. THANK YOU!

I saw a drone show last night and while the whole thing was visually stunning, the best part was that no dogs, wildlife, veterans or neurodivergent people were traumatized by it. Who needs fireworks anymore?

Just finished IN A NEW YORK MINUTE by Kate Spenser. 1. The author loves NYC. 2. She also likes bagels. 3. @hallmark.bsky.social needs to pick up this book. I loved the line where she compared being with someone you love to coming home to a light on.

Summer is the only time I can sit and watch TV, and I want to give a standing ovation to Amazon Prime's series "Ballard" and "Butterfly".

I am watching The Residence on Netflix. The casting and the also the writing by Paul William Davies is <chef's kiss> perfection!

What a great story about WWII and the brave citizens of Britain who banded together to stand against fascism! If you have a preteen, or if you are looking for a good, fast read, I loved this book by Ruth Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin:

It was field day today.

I just finished a book. I didn't like it. But once I was more than halfway through, I had to finish it. It took me a week but it's over and done with and removed from my Kindle. I wish I was strong enough to put a bad book down and just not finish it.

As the school year winds down, I want to thank Trader Joes and Whole Foods for their donation of dips and chips so the staff could unwind and relax before the last few steps to the finish line.

At the Scholastic Book Fair I read the book "No Such Thing As A Unicorn" by Lucy Rowland. A child said, "No! Not a unicorn book!" After I read the book, he said, "Read it again!" Highly recommend this book for the 3-5 year old crowd! Katy Halford's pictures were perfect!

The 1st graders learned about Florence Mills and how great singers like Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and Samara Joy stand on her shoulders. Then we sang karaoke. Let me tell you from firsthand experience, hearing the ABC song sung 10 times in a row is it's own torture.

I don't mind winter. 12 inches of snow? No big deal. Below 0 temps? No big deal. But ice storms? BIG DEAL! Fingers crossed that this new storm is all snow otherwise we could be stuck at school for hours tomorrow waiting on school buses and parents.

@chrishaughton.bsky.social wrote this book and it is a winner every year when I read it! The 4 year olds love it! We read it and then we put on "clothes of invisibility" and creep around the school trying to sneak up on colorful birds with shapes on them. It's also a soothing bedtime story.

This children's book by Jessie Oliveros made me cry. Hard. It's a beautiful explanation about what Alzheimers does to our loved ones. God bless us all who have to collect the remember balloons for our loved ones once they have let their balloon bouquet go.

This book by Benji Davies helps children process the loss of a grandparent in a gentle, thoughtful way. I have a student who held onto this book for 2 weeks. I'm not sure who needed it more: him or his parents.
