Well in lighter news, PlutoTV/Roku/Tubi now have a new promo for their Doctor Who channel. I was only *just* able to catch it and my phone lagged in the middle. But I quite fancy the clips used! (They used a clip from The Invasion, a story they’ve never shown!)

I was doing a Series 2 rewatch for its 20th, but after today’s news I really don’t want to touch New Who right now. Plus I’ve seen Satan Pit last year anyway. Still doing my 1966 one though. Savages Episode 3 bby

I do keep thinking to myself how great it would’ve been to have Capaldi’s Doctor as the final incarnation in the regeneration cycle. Just imagine the extra level of angst it brings, and it really adds to the “am I a good man” stuff. The Doctor contemplating his own mortality. Missed opportunity.

I had a silly idea and decided to edit it for shits and giggles. Here is the most recent series of Doctor Who as described by Classic Who. There’s a video for all of New Who on YouTube like this but it was made a couple years ago so I wanted to plug the gap. My main idea was the final clip!

Good news! I’ve come into possession of some tapes from WTTW from (mainly) 1984! They’re in great shape, will digitize and post on Archive.org in due course. There’s lots of great continuities that I’ll compile together and post as well!

The TV Movie first aired in the US 30 years after The Gunfighters Episode 3 aired in the UK. And 10 years after TV Movie aired in the UK The Idiots Lantern would be broadcast.

Rewatching The Dæmons via Retro TV and I’ve only just now clocked that Pertwee is only on film in Episode 4. No studio at all!

Since Sarah Jane, Leela, and Romana all got a K9 from the Doctor upon leaving the Tardis I’ve now decided that he sent Harry Sullivan a robot cat. Fe-9.

Speaking of The Claws Of Axos, I almost wish we had the studio tape for the stuff at the power complex as well because good grief that effects shot is gnarly and I kinda wish I could see it uncensored. Like his face blew up dude!!!

An interesting thing to note that I had never considered is that Retro TV utilizes the 2013 restoration of The Claws Of Axos while the Classic Who YouTube channel/Tubi utilize the early 2000’s RSC restoration.

Been enjoying The Mind Of Evil on RetroTV over the past few nights, if I’m correct it’s the second network to air this story in color (the other being KBTC) since the 70’s. Here’s a neat credit for the restoration of Episode 1 that isn’t present on the DVD

This week, and today specifically is 20 years since the start of Series 2, tomorrow is 60 years since The Dancing Floor aired. From this point Season 3 runs parallel to Series 2, only outlasting it by one week with Part 4 of The War Machines. Interesting!

I’ve gone and edited this scene and cut out all the bits the Australian Censors wanted cut, just for a bit of fun! It isn’t 100% accurate since it’s edited digitally instead of cutting a film print, but I think I got close enough.

A final last minute thing that I’m excited to see in the recovered episodes is the model Dalek from The Chase being seen on the scanner at the end of The Nightmare Begins!

You know, I’m sure some of it is motivated by the recovered episodes and the hype surrounding it but The Daleks’ Master Plan is working its way up my Hartnell rankings.

Coming back to this, I think the Macra model is being shot in a forced perspective way here. Particularly in the shots where Troughtons looking through the glass it looks awfully close doesn’t it?

It’s all still so surreal to me, I’ve watched the clips posted to YouTube so many times now, peering at every available screenshot just over the moon that finally after all this time of being a fan I can watch something that I’ve never actually seen before. It’s really quite amazing.

Rewatched The Enemy Of The World again and took a peek at the Telesnaps out of curiosity. Kinda funny how the site has these labeled as being earlier on where 2’s acting like Salamander even though he’s dropped the act and Bruce being in shock is actually him weirded out by our goofy trio

I’ve started a trend of watching Season 3 episodes on their 60th anniversary starting with Destruction Of Time, and after enjoying The Massacre over the course of 4 weeks it’s time for some moving footage with The Steel Sky! It’s neat that this was aired on my birthday 36 years before I was born!

Bring me the Season 6 collection set!! This iconic trio’s time to join The Collection is long overdue!!

Having just watched the second half of The War Games I’m in a Troughton state of mind. It’s an utter crime that only 7 of his stories are complete. In a just world, he’d have an equal amount of surviving stories to Hartnell. Which doing the numbers, only 4 stories would be incomplete.

It’s really interesting how The War Games was originally going to be a 4 part studio bound affair but then had its episode allocation combined with the 6 parter that was going to be on before it creating the epic we adore. It really shouldn’t work at 10 episodes but it really really does!

In the mythical land where nothing was ever lost I wonder what Lionheart would’ve done with Mission To The Unknown. Specifically for the movie edits. Would they have just tacked it on to Galaxy 4? Imagine the shock of that, watching a regular 4 parter and then you got 20 minutes of Daleks at the end

Another random realization for the midnight hour to shout to the winds. Each of Troughtons seasons, at one point or another. Feature foam! The Seeds Of Death, Fury From The Deep, and The Macra Terror! It really doesn’t get noticed too much but that Macra is definitely spewing up foam.

Just thought of a headcanon. The Doctor always mentions learning escape techniques from Houdini. It’s first brought up in Planet Of The Spiders. Maybe The Doctor visited Houdini between Seasons 10 and 11 since he no longer had his escapologist friend to get him out of trouble?
