#OTD (20th April 1975): Today is the 50th Anniversary of founding of the Black Parents Movement (BPM). This organisation was established by black people of African and Caribbean descent in Britain to defend and advance the interests of the black population #EachOneTeachOne✊🏿

In September 2024, YHP unveiled our third commemorative mural as part of our project celebrating historical African women in healthcare. Installed outside Guy's Hospital in London, the mural features six impactful healthcare workers from a range of time periods. #EachOneTeachOne✊🏿

The Young Historians Project is deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of our longtime collaborator and friend Marika Sherwood. A veteran educator and pioneering historian, Marika dedicated her life to research and inspiring future generations.

We need to make sure that the curriculum is relevant, interesting and representative of both pupils and the world around them. History class is the perfect opportunity to teach critical thinking, empathy, and cultural understanding. It shouldn't just be about a load of white men having wars.

Very informative article on epidemic of the lack of Black British History here in the UK, possible reasons for why that is and how YHP (as well as teachers etc.) can aid in attempting to rectify this issue.
