Although this rings true for me, it is *very* unusual for a practitioner of CrossFit to admit they do CrossFit, so I naturally have suspicions that this could be fake. 🧐 But, perhaps try swimming anyway, you could get both your exercise and sense of porpoise quotas met at the same time. 🐬

Finished today’s run with 500km on the nose on my YTD odo(ur)meter. Not obsessive compulsive, more lazy than crazy.

Completed my 26th parkrun today. Celebrating this milestone as I imagine the 26th iteration of something rarely gets the love. But feel I am at the point where the early infatuation has waned, only for a steady and dependable commitment to kick in.

What better way to welcome winter than with a 14 mile run, waved at everyone along the path today but all it yielded were cold fingers. General mood out there was grim.

Back to the trail for this week’s 10km run, a little slower with dodging of walkers, a detour around a nature study group and the ups and downs along the course.

FWIW, regular ecologists are on the fence about it.

10km on a running track, a few minutes under my target time, given the flatter and faster surface, although the repetitive lapping made the minutes go slower.

Nine miles run today, steady pace, very quiet on the trail, in terms of others and also sounds since I have been raw dogging* it since I lost my earbuds a month back.

Very happy to have the chance to run ten kilometres this afternoon, gave me an hour in this glorious sunshine and an appetite for a metric plateful of protein and carbs.

Another race night, first a 400m, a big stride out 73 secs, then 200m, wore the flats, but ran out of steam, 32.4, had to contend with a precocious 10 year old on the inside lane alongside, was telling myself I would take it easy but those midget footsteps were like jungle music to my id.

Hosed down and fed after another hot run, now recovering in the garden in the last skerrick of shade.

Shook up tonight’s recovery 10km run about a quarter of the way in, with two 5 min tempo efforts and a 3 min walk after each. Held a 5 min/km pace on the gravel path during the efforts. Don’t know what to make of heart rate keeping to zone 2 for all but the last minute of the second rep?

Track running last night included some ready-set-go action with like-minded individuals. Good to get amongst it after ten years out even though I was at back of pack.

Slow striding in a singlet for six sweaty kms

Today’s 6pm 5k was rescheduled to 730 am due to the heat forecast being hostile to human survival, and my verdict is that it was a bold move that paid off, no deaths and a more vibrant, coffee-friendly vibe, would try again.

From this morning’s stroll, as a four day heatwave begins, a posse of t’ai chi practitioners (t’ai cheetahs?) hug the shade of the eucalyptus tree, a cultural counterpoint to the usual cricketers and lawn bowlers who use this park.

Kate Bush inspired running up that hill today, each one a 20m gain in elevation over a 300m climb, with a further 100m on the plateau to the turn around point. 8 repetitions for 6.4km total. 45 steady minutes.

Sure, controversial and considered heretical by many loony tuners, but please hear me out, as in my opinion it is important that we all recognise as a foundational conditioning of western philosophy that the coyote did not want to eat the roadrunner, he wanted to f*ck him.

I had an unnerving feeling throughout this morning’s five kilometre tempo run that I was being pursued by a cock and balls golem monster.

Bit of a mixed bag for emergency planning at this morning’s parkrun, with the defibrillator ready for action ✅ but the plumbing situation looking straight out of a secret lab at a Hawkins Indiana energy facility. ❌

Grateful that I get to run under a blue sky on yet another New Year’s Day. Related, you know you are all grown up when you have to wash your sheets for basic hygiene and not sex related reasons.

Yesterday’s trail run, more curves than a roller coaster and just as many thrills, i.e., opportunities to face plant or roll an ankle on loose rock.

Short run this morning ahead of the mercury reaching 100 degrees Fahrenheit this arvo, had me hugging the shade like an assassin. Double assin’ FTW.

BRB, measuring out my life with coffee spoons, and 5k runs and cardio vascular medications. I could have been a pair of ragged spikes scuttling across the floors of silent (track) seas(ons).

As a runner, swimming has great benefits for your upper body strength, as well as for the cardio vascular health of yourself, and all onlookers who roll about laughing uncontrollably.

This was me, 2022, emerging from lockdowns to discover all office bathrooms had special bins to dispose of sanitary pads, regardless of gender branding, and thinking I didn’t belong, that I was in the wrong stall.
