The road ate my car excuse

Starting a new job Monday, so taking the time to enjoy the glorious sun and take care of some farm work with my boy. It’s the best kind of day.

For the sixteen years the beautiful @mountainash.bsky.social and I have been married we’ve gotten by with one car. In part out of economic prudence, in part out of stubborn minimalism. Circumstances compel us to add another car so I’m thinking early 2000’s, Japanese with a manual, recommendations?

Our sweetest girl. All in all our ewes are the most amiable and endearing creatures, the boys on the other hand… Roosters or rams, they’re useful for about 30 seconds and a major pain the rest of the time.

Hopeful headline, we would not sell our farm either. It’s not just land and plants, it’s a sense of independence and self determination. There’s immense power in being capable of putting food on the table and providing for one’s family without relying on the fragile infrastructure of the economy

Things I’m learning about lambs: Sheep teets are positioned such that lambs have to suckle from the front with their buts towards mama’s head. When lambs are getting milk they wiggle their tails. So mama can look down and see the tail wiggles on each side and sniff their little bottoms.

We got a lot of good news today that’s been a long time coming. The sex-pest formerly known as Prince and DJT also got big news that’s been a long time coming, though I don’t think they’re so keen on it. Call it a karmic rebalancing.

Sky lamb getting weighed. Little bugs have grown from 10 to almost 15lbs each. The girl’s eyes , pictured, have been clearing up after some saline washes. Scours resolved too, hence the weighing. I wanted to ensure they were putting on weight in the cold.

Hope y’all like lambs. The white rambie is hale and hearty, little speckle face ewe has some scours and possibly entropion. The latter is an opthalmic condition caused by partial inversion of the lower eyelid. The entropion is less concerning than scours, I need to be aggressive with that.

We could tell by her waddle she was smuggling some lambs.

That it took a court case to settle what common sense makes apparent is a clue to the extent of the threat to public lands.
