It’s jarring when I get outside of my bubble to see what the general consensus around AI is. I participate in a lot of discussion groups at my local library, and whenever AI comes up the majority view is that GenAI bots are intelligent, logical, creative, etc.

One of my favorite spots in #Blacksburg when the weather is nice is Rising Silo, today I’m trying a cucumber gose, lavender sour, beet saison, and some kind of carrot beer (all with local produce they grow on their farm)

I have degrees in English and Classics and work in cybersecurity now. My degrees help me everyday because I learned critical thinking, research and problem solving, and of course communication skills. And I’ve worked in IT over the years with among others, history, philosophy, and biology majors

Ever since I got my Ph.D. I have been waiting for the day when I am in a crowded theatre and someone yells “Is there a rhetorician in the house?”

I was at my library’s philosophy discussion group this week, and someone there was typing the facilitator’s prompts into ChatGPT and reading back the responses like what are we even doing
