Neuroscience PhD candidate @WVU interested in the synaptic activity of sleep, light, and mood
I submitted an F31 in August and it was finally reviewed yesterday, but not discussed. I poured so much into this application, so I can't lie that this result really stings. I realize rejection is part of science, so my fellow scientists out there: how do you keep from being weighed down?

I've passed to PhD candidacy!! The world has been pretty dark and scary, but cool science is still happening and I'm so proud to announce that I've taken another step in being part of it.

I'm the new VP of WVU's Graduate Women Advocating Science and I'm on a mission! We want to host a speaker who can tell us about activism in STEM for underrepresented voices. Know anyone? My following is on the micro scale so any reposts are deeply appreciated ❤️

Last night I competed as a finalist in WVU's 3 Minute Thesis competition! I didn't place, but afterwards a mechanical engineer said he's never thought about excitation and inhibition during sleep. Telling people about how cool the brain is and hearing that they listened is a win in my books!

Nothing like a little Andy Serkis narration of the Silmarillion to get me out of my head and into the groove of patching. What do others listen to at the rig/bench?

I'm hyped about the follows, thanks everyone! Our lab had a paper accepted last week that I can't wait to share on here, so keep an eye out! I've spent the past year learning whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology and I'm thrilled to share that hard work sometime soon.
