Got to see the live-action remake of Moana, and as redundant as it may be for me to say, the animated version is way better. It mainly comes off as a lifeless drive-by musical that lacks finesse and cleverness in the presentation, especially since it basically uses the same exact script. (1/2)

For this day of my stay-cation, I decided to take things easy by doing some chores around the house, such as doing more laundry, sorting out my closets and mowing the lawn (despite the dreaded heat). I also caught up on several episodes of Angel, which took up some of my time.

Got to spend my first day of my stay-cation by treating it as a cleaning day, plus I attended an in-service for work and watched the animated version of Moana in preparation for the live-action version (just in case I decide to see it in theaters). I’m off to a good start so far. :)

My stay-cation has now officially begun. 😎 I already have a few ideas in mind on how I want to spend it, and even though I’ll be experiencing a heat wave during the week that I’m off work, I’ll make the best of it.

Had a nice time attending a local picnic today. Though the day was rather warm out, at least it wasn’t 100F or raining like it did at other picnics past. I got to intermingle with old friends and make a couple new ones alone the way. I look forward to attending the upcoming fall picnic. :)

Got to visit my sister out on the East Coast last week and had a nice time. We did some sightseeing at the James Monroe Highland plantation, went to the movies and hung out at home with some binge watching on HBO Max. It felt nice seeing her in person again and spending quality time together. :)

I didn’t get to do much for Mother’s Day yesterday since I had to work, but I did give her a gift and a card to go with it. She loved it because it was thoughtful, and that’s all that matters. :) #HappyMothersDayWkend

I may not be a huge fan of #StarWars, but I have my respect on the franchise and how much it has left a profound and long-lasting impact on our culture, so to all the Star Wars fans out there, I say: May the Fourth Be With You. :)

Got to see “Animal Farm: A Cautionary Tail” and found it to be very disappointing, just like I knew it would be after seeing the trailers. It seemed to greatly miss the point of what made the George Orwell novella such a timeless classic, covering only the bare essence of the book’s plot. (1/3)

Today marks the 10th anniversary of seeing “Zootopia” in theaters at a specially arranged private screening. I will always remember being the first one in the audience to start the applause as soon as the credits started to roll. It was one of the best movie nights of my life. ^^

Got to experience driving home in an unexpected blizzard earlier today. It took me roughly 80 minutes just to make it home, but not without stopping for gas along the way. I never thought the snow would be this bad, but at least I made it home safe and sound. 😮‍💨

Got to see “Goat” in theaters the other day and found it to be fairly decent. It may not be a huge game changer in its exploration of the “underdog defies expectations” trope, and there are a few minor faults in the script and its development in some of the characters. (1/3)

Got to attend a holiday party with my friends at a hotel the other day. Essentially, it almost felt like watching an improvised comedy sketch, given the spontaneous and free-spirited behavior many of the attendees exhibited, but we all seemed to have a nice time. I know I did. :)

Got to see a few deer roaming around my neighborhood for food earlier this evening. Though not the first time this has happened, this particular moment was a rare opportunity to take a picture of them without having them run off scared (then again, they’re probably not that scared of me, anyway).

Got the opportunity today to rake all the leaves for the (hopefully) last time this season, and this was my fourth attempt this month (the other three occurred last week after work while there was still light out). Took me about 4.5 hours to do it all by myself, and the deed is done. 🥵

Got to see “Pets on a Train” in theaters and found it to be a fairly decent entertainment fare (at least for the kids). There may not have been enough dimension given to the characters, and the jokes didn’t pack much of a punch (not to mention having a slightly clunky storyline). (1/3)

Got to attend a fall picnic with my friends for the day. Even though it rained at one point, we made the best of it by staying under the big picnic shelter we rented out. It felt nice to gain my social life back by reminiscing with old friends and make new ones. I look forward to the next picnic. :)

Came in to work today to see that a mechanical issue I had mentioned to my supervisor time and time again had finally been fixed. Feels as though I had made a huge difference to the company, even if hardly anyone else noticed the problem in the first place. :)

Got both my flu and Covid shots in the same appointment, so I’m now all set for the winter season. Bring it on! 💪
