Highlight of the day for me at WWT Slimbridge was the Spoonbill who for a change was quite animated than the usual tucked under wing for hours character we usually see!

I got to meet one of my all time bird ‘heroes’ close up & personal- Abou, the enigmatic Shoebill, the only one of its kind in the UK at Exmoor Zoo

Waders at the rivers Taw & Torridge at Bideford & Instow this week: Curlew, Oystercatcher, Dunlin, Common Sandpiper, Turnstone and Redshank; plus Goldeneye pair & Common Gull present

Spent an ‘Evening With The Swans’ at WWT Slimbridge this evening; dozens of Bewick’s Swans with a couple of Whooper Swans & a female Mandarin as well; lovely early Valentine’s Day present!

In my garden this morning as part of the #BigGardenBirdwatch; thrilled to see a Bullfinch, Song Thrush and Redwing as well as other little birds; absence of Wren and Dunnock noted; 15 birds spotted

Curlews at Upton Warren NR first thing. Went to a local Curlew Expresso coffee shop for a drink after but it was closed!
