I already owned the Blade Runner 2019 box set, but once I found out that @comicstitan.bsky.social is releasing this omnibus, I knew I have to make an upgrade. Probably the best looking graphic novel in my collection so far.

I was originally gonna say that the Xenomorph in Alien Earth sometimes looked like the one in those old AvP commercials, but honestly, looking at them now, I think the Alien in those commercials actually looked better.

I really like Poker Face but I'm also not sure why it feels it constantly needs the narrative crutch of somebody being after Charlie all the time. Because it doesn't. Just let her drive around and solve mysteries in peace.

It's really a testament to how much fun the rest of the Arkham Knight is despite how dumbed down the predator sections were and how absolutely stupid, tedious and out of place most of the Batmobile stuff was. Also the Batfleck skin fits this game much better than the original clunky armored suit. 🦇

I'm sorry but I just can't get over how fucking stupid the Alien in Alien Earth looks. It has exactly the opposit problem of what AvP Requiem had.

Max Landis' everlasting legacy will be that Hollywood keeps basing smug rich fuckwits on him.

I really like how KILLER OF KILLERS reinforces the idea that Predators are just a bunch of pathetic scumbags with no sense of sportsmanship that will fuck you over even if you happen to win against them.

If Andor is Star Wars without the fairy tale mythology and naivety, then Alien Earth is Alien without the fear of the unknown. Both are good shows, but both also need to go to great lengths so they could do something different with an idea that worked because it was very simple and straightforward.

I can't stress this enough: when you shoot everything on crisp ultra high definition digital cameras, your practical effects don't look as good. And your Alien looks just like a guy in an awkward rubber suit.

So either our space travel technological advancements are build on CRT monitors with big keyboards and giant chirping computers, or we made Ice Age in 2002. But it really can't be both.

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando really screams of "we just paid John Carpenter a shitload of money so that we could slap his name onto this". Good for him, though.

I can totally see that in a couple of years, if @jamesgunn.bsky.social DCU goes well, he could reintroduce the Zack Snyder Justice League that would basically work as the Cryme Syndicate of America. The problem with WOLF MAN is that when you frame it as a trauma story within the framework of the standard werewolf mythos, you pretty much know how the whole movie will play out like 10 minutes in. It's not badly made or without merit, but it mostly feels like it's just going through the motions. 🐺

It really surprised me how scary WEAPONS was at the beginning and how funny it got as it went on. It's a purposefully bizarre movie that's definitely not for everyone, but I loved it. And when Cregger says that his Resident Evil will have Evil Dead II vibes, I believe him. Because they're here, too.
