Been a rough couple of days for my family. Health stuff, emotional stuff - the reality of aging parents gets heavy. So whenever I needed some me time went to the local record stores out in their neck of the woods. Do I have money to spend on records right now? No. Did I need the distraction? Yes.

Went to a different record store today. A guy there kept telling the owner how closely he worked with record labels and rock bands. He then proceeded to give out wrong info about every band he mentioned and pronounce all their names wrong.

A guy just asked me if I worked at the record store I was just in and it’s the most accepted I’ve felt by my local music scene all year.

You know what they say: Some people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. And some people turn out to be total dicks you regret giving your phone number to.

I’m at an ambient show and there are some little kids dancing. Then some bro came in and said, “Let’s open up this pit!!!!” Proof that there’s one of “those guys” at every show.

I’ve been dealing with some heavy personal stuff. As a distraction I’ve been buying records even though I don’t currently have a job. The way I see it, I’ll never have a trillion dollars but I can have the limited edition splatter vinyl version of an album I really like. That feels like a win.

Bought The Messthetics latest record directly from Brendan Canty after the show. He’d just finished playing and was so kind and genuine. He shook my hand and thanked me for coming. I’ve been a fan of his since I was a teenager. Getting that moment with him felt special and I’ll never forget it.

My Jeep is now under it's 4th recall. Did I mention that 3 of them are related to it spontaneously catching on fire and / or exploding? I've done some pretty dumb things in my life. Leasing this Jeep is currently at the top of the list.
