Completed my replay of Bloodborne after dunking on the moon presence. The Maria fight was definitely the high point. Maybe on to a replay of Dark Souls 2 next?

Going directly from Dark Souls into Bloodborne, it's really apparent how lean and focused the latter's design is. Also, I beat Gascoigne on second attempt 😅

General thoughts on Dark Souls NG+: 1) the increase soul value on slain enemies alongside flat vendor prices make it way easier to upgrade weapons and explore the collectathon of boss weapons. 2) The upgrade cap on weapons makes damage type choices actually meaningful

Ended up doing NG+ Dark Souls, and Solaire just solo'd Ornstein while I was running away from Smough 😂

and oneshot Lord Gwynn... Probably didn't help that I'd geared up for the Manus fight. That's gg for Dark Souls 1 replay. Wild that it still feels like there's so many hidden secrets I don't know even though this was my third playthrough. On to Bloodborne replay?

That Manus fight was rough though. The slight delays to bait early dodgerolls, the big AOE combo. Feels like an Elden Ring boss.

The lava defense ring is an interesting micro example of the design aesthetic of Dark Souls. It's not Zelda's lava tunic granting total immunity, or Quake biosuit and pentagram granting immunity on a timer. You still take damage, just not as much 😅

The "Sanctuary Guardian" is a pretty cool boss fight. Looking forward to the Artorias fight again too, and I've never fully completed this DLC, so pretty sure it's another boss or two after that.

"The Painted World of Ariamis" is such a nice little area in Dark Souls 1. Fantastic architecture with exploration in and out. Great enemy placement for some surprising ambushed and challenge. Neat boss fight.
