Excellent post on the lack of empirical support for stereotype threat, from someone deeply involved in the research. Also, importantly, "stereotype threat isn't real" != "stereotypes are not threatening." These are very different claims, but the former is often taken to mean the latter.

This is painful but worth spending time on. The road to more honest and robust psychological science will be bumpy. Even the best of us can prioritize a preferred narrative over the unvarnished truth — this reality is inescapable. Part of science is to keep each other in check.
