House style has always been the editor’s anchor. Long before digital content workflows, newspapers relied on their own in-house rules to keep teams consistent . As publishing evolved, so did house style, from typeset instructions and newsroom traditions to today’s organization-wide playbooks.

Once reserved for texts and group chats, emojis now appear in emails, headlines, brand messaging, and even internal reports. Some say emojis add tone and reduce ambiguity. Others argue they distract from the message or diminish credibility. What’s your approach?
