Movie 124 of 2025: ROOFMAN Interesting enough true story, but you can kinda feel the shape of it and where it’s going the whole time, and it doesn’t have much to say beyond the guy is likable/charismatic. It’s fine. Less depressing than Cianfrance’s other work.

Game 23 of 2025: KIRBY AIR RIDERS Insane kart racer with some neat ideas and modes, and a story mode that mashes them all up and goes on too long. All this hides the fact that there aren’t many tracks, and your friends don’t know how to play this so you’ll just play Mario Kart.

Game 22 of 2025: SONIC RACING: CROSSWORLDS Welcome return to form after the misfire that was Team Sonic Racing. Feels like a sequel to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Movie 123 of 2025: THE ROSES Wife forced me at gunpoint to watch this, and I ended up liking it quite a bit.

Movie 122 of 2025: INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS Love this more every time I watch it. Tarantino doesn’t have any bad films, but I think his alternate history ones may be his best.

Game 21 of 2025: METROID: ZERO MISSION Missed a bunch of stuff by stumbling into the final boss fight and somehow winning, but anyway, this is the best Metroid game. It has everything you want in a Metroid game and no impossible wall jump.

That twist in the new Welcome to Derry is FUCKING STUPID.

Game 20 of 2025: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE WIND WAKER Still such a great game. Best atmosphere in the series. The best combat. It feels so smooth. That easy, flashy parry, cutting knights armor off from behind feels so good. I would love a proper sequel.

Movie 121 of 2025: APT PUPIL Having just watched a six hour Hitler doc, I felt it was appropriate to revisit this Bryan Singer classic (and watched in the context of what we now know about him it is a rich text). This is like a top 5 underrated Stephen King adaptation for me.

GOOD. BETTER. BEST.

Slowly coming to accept that the Bears are actually good.

WELCOME TO DERRY is maybe the most okay show of the year. I haven’t once got to the end of an episode and said that was great, or I’m dying to see the next episode. It just washed over you. More Derry.

Movie 120 of 2025: TRAIN DREAMS I’m just a sucker for this type of movie, from HERE to THE TREE OF LIFE. And this even has a little bit of THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD thrown in. Loved it!

Movie 119 of 2025: GOOD BOY Indy is the best boy, but I can’t say the same for the human actor or the movie in general. Worth it as a novelty and if you’re a dog lover.

There are AI videos now of AOC looking super hot and dancing, and I am super against them. 😉

New Pluribus was awesome.

Wind Waker remains so good despite showing its age, especially with regard to its funky ass controls. It’s a game you can kinda see the seams of now, but it retains its magic.

One thing I noticed that I didn’t really the first 800 times because Ledger is such a force of nature is that TDK has an insane amount of plot.

Movie 118 of 2025: THE DARK KNIGHT It cannot be stressed enough how much I love the last two minutes of this movie. Also, it should be noted, the ferry with Gotham citizens did vote to blow up the other boat.

I have a question/theory about the end of BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, and I hope it’s okay to spoil a movie from 2005. My theory is that Gyllenhaal died exactly how his wife said, and the glimpses we see of him being killed is Ledger’s imagination.

A couple weeks ago, Amazon decided all their heavy packages, they’re not delivering. We’re delivering. Boxes of printer paper, printers, furniture, cat litter, fucking dog food. Every day is hell at the post office.

Once you’re finally out on the ocean in Wind Waker, that’s the good stuff right there.

Movie 117 of 2025: BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN First time watch for me, because in Bush’s America, this was the gay cowboy movie. Didn’t hit me as hard as some of my favorite doomed romances (Bridges of Madison County, Portrait of a Lady on Fire), but Ledger is incredible in it.

I taught myself HTML in the 90s by going on webpages and looking at their source code. Then I made a Geocities site where I reviewed movies. I’m pretty sure this was very illegal, but then I sold copies of Halloween 6 producers cut through the site lol.

Movie 116 of 2025: ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD Tarantino’s 10-movie rule is dumb, but I am sympathetic to the daunting prospect of having to follow this movie up. The best masterpiece of his career.

Going to check out the new pizzeria in town.

Pluribus has a very Body Snatchers premise, but I think the main thing that makes it feel fresh is how it makes the situation seem to be pretty good, and our main character is just a Debby Downer.

Movie 115 of 2025: GATTACA “I got the better end of the deal. I only lent you my body. You lent me your dream.” Man, I love this movie. The best kind of sci-fi, that’s about what it means to be human.

Game 19 of 2025: BALL X PIT This is a great spin on Vampire Survivors, and like that game, I will buy and/or play any DLC that comes our way.

The main Nazi soldier guy in this is the spitting image of modern day Anthony Michael Hall. I am shocked to learn it isn’t him.

Movie 114 of 2025: THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR This one is from a different universe where we thought Hillary was gonna win and Florida was a swing state. Good premise, & it has Frank Grillo, so it’s one of the better ones. Also, the NFFA politician looks kinda like Scott Jennings.

Movie 113 of 2025: THE FOREVER PURGE The movie that dares to ask, “What if the Republican Party lost control of its base?”

I feel like I’m the only person who thought Tears of the Kingdom was a complete letdown for using the same map as BOTW, and yet here I am eating up DQ1-3.

Didn’t realize THE TRUMAN SHOW and GATTACA were written by the same guy. Dude was just blowing my mind in the 90s, and I didn’t know.

Movie 112 of 2025: THE TRUMAN SHOW Philip Glass’ score elevates this genuinely great film into a masterpiece.

Game 18 of 2025: DRAGON QUEST I HD-2D REMAKE Beat that Dragonlord’s ass. Kazap all day. 24 hours 30 minutes.

Predator discourse has me wanting to stay away from that movie. Pluribus, on the other hand, is excellent.

Movie 111 of 2025: TWINLESS There’s a big, bold twist early on in this that carries the rest of the movie. It also hints at a much darker movie, but it didn’t fool me because as a Nelson Movie, I figured it would stay in the indie drama/comedy lane. Good, but no good way to end it.

Politicians should probably get on Bluesky to get better in touch with the American electorate.

Movie 110 of 2025: TOGETHER (2025) Works fairly well as a relationship drama even before the body horror fully kicks in, which just acts as a metaphor for codependency and the intimacy of long-term relationships. Pretty solid, with good performances from the lead couple.

Movie 109 of 2025: CAUGHT STEALING Decent main character and performance from Butler, but this thing really struggles to find a pulse, no matter how many characters it senselessly kills. It doesn’t help that the villains are lame. Kinda limps across the finish line to be just okay.
