Heating oil price spikes are hammering rural families. Crude oil is up 20% since the Iran war began, yet some North Norfolk households are suffering 80-100% increases. Last week, I asked Ed Miliband to act & he’s today agreed to raise it with the Competition & Markets Authority.

🚨 GREAT NEWS 🚨 After raising this with Transport Made Simpler, the Stalham-Hoveton route is getting hourly buses to Norwich from April, with earlier am services and a later last bus at 22.15 🚍 Rural communities deserve reliable transport - I'll keep pushing for better connections for all.

If we'd never dream of letting the Palace of Westminster crumble, why are we risking the collapse of our own unique natural habitats? Norfolk holds 10% of the world's rare chalk streams - living, breathing treasures found almost nowhere else on Earth 🌏 Protecting them isn't optional.

🚍 All too often, our rural bus timetable doesn't clock in for the early shift or wait up for the late one. Real life doesn't run 9-5. Our transport shouldn't either. It's time for hourly buses in all our major towns and villages, with services that start earlier and run later.

With the @sixnations-rugby.bsky.social kicking off in Paris tonight, now feels like the perfect time to underline the urgent need to improve access to funding for grassroots rugby clubs 🏉💷

🚈 Rural rail matters: to earn a living, to learn, to get medical care, & to avoid isolation. Long-sought improvements coming in May are hugely welcome. But rural areas should never have to settle for second best, which is why I'll keep pushing for even better train services.

🏉 Great to visit North Walsham Rugby Club this week. Rugby has deep roots here in Norfolk. It's more than just matchdays: it's community, volunteers & a sense of belonging. Grassroots rugby needs fairer access to funding, urgently - something I'll be pushing for.

Our rural pubs are under real pressure. A 5% VAT cut for hospitality would give them breathing space - and help protect the heart of our communities 🍻

Poor public transport in rural areas like North Norfolk is holding back far too many people. Whether it's getting to work, education, or the shops, getting from A to B here via public transport is simply too tricky in too many places. 🚍 We need investment. And we need it now.

Had a great time cutting the ribbon at Cromer's new banking hub this morning ✂️🎀 These are essential spaces that provide residents with local access to vital banking services. It's why I've fought so hard - for several years now - to secure them for our high streets.

I cannot believe the government has given Norfolk County Conservatives the chance to chicken out of elections (again!) in May! 🤯 Residents across Norfolk (and beyond) deserve to have their voices heard 🗳

Village schools are the heart of rural life. Rich with memories, connection, and community. As funding pressures grow, we must safeguard these schools so every child can learn close to home. The govt must act - now - and review the funding formula.

Met Lloyds reps in Westminster today. I told them plainly how unhappy I am with their decision to remove cheque deposits from Post Offices and Banking Hubs - and insisted this goes right to the top. I also demanded reassurance of their commitment to our rural banking hubs.

Sheringham residents refused to back down - even in freezing temps 🥶 - and they've saved their heritage bus shelter 👏 Now Norfolk County Council must listen, engage, grow up, and deliver the transport improvements this town deserves.
