Fountain pen of the day (vintage): Recently, I got an old Pelikan. It’s a good pen, although younger than I expected. The M481, an economical prelude to the M200 from 1983. Curiously, it has no pelican in the cap, unless you unscrew the top. I also expected the “W-Germany” in the ring, but no luck.

Fountain pen of the day (vintage): I recently saw the new Sheaffer Legacy, a good pen with the classic inlaid nib, at $215 USD. So I went and bought… this Sheaffer Targa, in gold, for a third of the price. I had to buy a new converter and wash the feed, but it was worth it…

Fountain pen of the day: This one is a little curious, the Montegrappa DC Heroes and villains, their Catwoman version. It was at an irresistible price, so I got it. It’s a heavy pen with a very good steel nib. Solid writer.

Fountain pen of the day: One of the few retractable nib that I own, the Majohn A3 in their Stormtrooper color. It’s a nice and well made pen, even if it isn’t as smooth as the original Pilot nibs. Anyway, if you can get that nib, the legend says that you can swap it…

Fountain pen of the day: A classic and great piece, the Sailor Pro Gear pen. A totally different level of quality than their Shikiori or Professional Gear Slim, this is still a short, chubby piece with a superb 21k gold nib, much more smooth than other models.

Fountain pen of the day: From the Chinese brand PENBBS, the 489 model, a touchdown filler in clear acrylic. This brand is known for the variety of filling mechanisms, and their overall quality. It’s a good writer, with a solid fine steel nib.

Fountain pen of the day: A curious one, the Jinhao 100, a heavy pen made in metal and resin. I thought at first that it was some kind of demonstrator, but you can’t see through the windows. And although it copies the form of a Duofold and the clip of a Pilot, it’s an original piece and works well.

Fountain pen of the day: A curious one, the Lamy Accent, in black with platinum rings. You rotate the section to have access to the converter, and supposedly, you can buy and install different sections (lie). This was my first gold nib pen, and has been a reliable writer.

Fountain pen of the day: A good and cute one, the Majohn 100, in pink and blue swirl acrylic. It’s a reliable pen with a nice weight and feel. It’s cheap and this one was worth the cost.

Fountain pen of the day: A fancy one, the Montblanc Starwalker, the midnight black variant. This one is one of those editions that has more name than quality. The nib is just okay, even if it’s 14k gold and it doesn’t works well with converters. It looks nice and I bought it for a good price, tho.

Fountain Pen of the day: This is a recent purchase, that I’m very happy with. The Majohn P141 in transparent acrylic. Although the shape is “inspired” by the Montblanc 149, it’s its own thing, with superb quality and a smooth big nib. This is the best Majohn pen that I have and one of my favorites

Fountain pen of the day: To finish with the green theme of this week, the Lamy Al Star Sage. It was a special edition, with a nice green metallic color and black clip and nib. It also combines well with the Petrol limited edition ink. Very nice pen.

Fountain pen of the day: To follow with the green theme of this week, the Majohn P136, an “homage” of the Montblanc 146. Since I got both, how does this compares to the original? This has the same feel and had a piston system. The nib is obviously less smooth. Does it justify the x23 difference?

Fountain pen of the day: A very good design from Lamy, the Studio. A solid aluminum pen, in green (seems to be the color of this week). This one had a medium steel nib, but after a total malfunction of a Dialog 3, now has a 14k gold medium nib. I still prefer my Hongdian N11…

Fountain pen of the day: One of the most beautiful pens by Hongdian, the N11, an aluminum pen with an interesting rhombic design. It has an ebonite feed, piston filler and a superb nib. It’s a little heavy but solid design.

Fountain pen of the day: A very curious homage of a Parker 51, the Lozafot. It was a cheap one, but with surprisingly good quality. The pen is all metal, the section and nib quite different and even came with two spare nibs, including a fude.

Fountain pen of the day: A favorite of many people, the Lamy 2000. It’s a Bauhaus inspired pen, in a minimalist design. The makrolon used in its fabrication gives a nice tactile feel and the quality is top notch. It has a semi hooded gold nib and a piston filling system. Great writer.

Fountain pen of the day: A classic one the Montblanc 149… nope. This is a classic Chinese “homage”, the Jinhao 159x, in burgundy not as precious resin and a reliable steel nib. It’s the same size of the MB, and uses a cartridge converter. It’s a reliable writer, and a very affordable one.

Fountain pen of the day: An Esterbrook Estie Scarlet. This line have luscious acrylic pens and smooth Jowo nibs. These are good pens with great design and quality, although a little pricey.

Fountain pen of the day: One of the many “homages” of popular western pens, the Jinhao 85. This is a hooded nib with a golden metallic cap and resin body. It uses a converter, as Jinhao doesn’t uses other filling systems. It’s a decent writer, with the same quality of Parker 51 recent editions.

Fountain pen of the day: A little one, this is a Giuliano Mazzuoli pen, the Officina Fresa, in aluminum. The pen is too little for anormal converter, but it can use a Kaweko mini converter without problems. The nib is smooth and the design is interesting, although is too big for a pocket pen.

Fountain pen of the day The Hongdian 1861 pro, in brass. I’ve got the long knife nib and it works perfectly. It’s on the top ten of my collection, and considering some of the models costs 10-20 times more than this, I would recommend it to anyone who likes fountain pens.

Fountain pen of the day: An exotic piece, at least in Mexico, the Gravitas Entry, in Ultem. It has a great Jowo nib, and a weird metallic grooved section, that gives a good sensation in the fingers. I was curious about the Ultem. It has a good feeling, but it indeed looks like an old catheter tube.

Fountain pen of the day: A Jinhao 750x, in enamel metal. It’s a very simple pen, with a good nib. Although not my favorite Chinese brand, Jinhao is ubiquitous and very cheap, with a good quality and some nice designs. With a cup of coffee in a famous store in downtown Mexico City.

Fountain pen of the day: With many brands making pocket pens, this is one of the best. The Hongdian M2 in aluminum. It’s so superior to many brands, mainly certain German one that sells for thrice the price, without a converter or a clip, and doesn’t have a kitten yin-yang in the cap.

Fountain pen of the day The Kaigelu 316, a classic model of this Chinese brand. It’s a good quality piece, economical, even if it isn’t as well known as Jinhao or Hongdian. The nib has the little kangaroo of the brand, and is a smooth writer.

Fountain pen of the day: A really fancy one, the Pelikan Souverain M800, in green stripes. It’s a superb writer with good capacity and one of the best designed nibs.

Fountain pen of the day: Another of my Ranga pen collection, a compact model, in black and white acrylic. Considering that this Indian artisan makes big models, this is really 3 mm shorter than a Safari. It has a good Jowo nib and good weight and quality.

Fountain pen of the day: This is a rare one, at least for me. The Laban Solar fountain pen, the Mars color with a fine nib. This is a Taiwanese brand that has many interesting models in different materials. This one is their entry level in aluminum. Has a nice Schmidt nib.

Fountain pen of the day Recently, I purchased the new Nahvalur Triad, a simple plastic pen with a nice nib. I was pleasantly surprised by the weight, feel and quality of the pen, with smooth and wet lines. It has a very comfortable triangular shape. It worked well with a shimmery ink.

Fountain pen of the day: This is a very humble pen, bought on Aliexpress. It doesn’t even have a brand (it’s a “New brand”) in multicolored painted wood and brass. It has a surprisingly good quality, with solid lines and comfortable to use.

Fountain pen of the day: The Montblanc Rouge et Noir special edition, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the brand. It’s a slim piston piece, with snake details in the clip and the gorgeous 14k rhodium plated nib. Superb writer.

Fountain pen of the day: A Majohn T5. This one was a little disappointing, because the body design was tad good as the store’s photos and the nib was too scratchy for my taste. The problem with this brand is that their quality is hit or miss… and this wasn’t a hit.

Fountain pen of the day: A fancy (and a little tacky) one, this is a Cartier Diabolo, a fine black resin pen with a blue resin cabochon in the cap. It has a 18k gold nib, and all the metallic parts are palladium plated. It’s a very nice writer, with smooth lines.

Fountain pen of the day: A Picasso 916 Malage. Picasso is a Chinese brand that designs nice pens with many details related to their namesake. This one has even the signature of the artist in the section. Is a good quality and economical writer.

Fountain pen of the day: Another fancy one, this is a Graf Von Faber Castell Guilloche in blue resin and a rhodium coated 18k gold nib. It’s a superb writer, a little on the heavy side.

Fountain pen of the day: I had to review this one since I used it recently: the Majohn M800, in Galaxy Blue. It’s an “homage” of a Leonardo Momento Zero. I have both. Is this pen as good? The LMZ is a very nice writer with a great nib. The M800? Is a very nice writer with a good nib…

Fountain pen of the day: Another fancy one, this fountain pen is a Montblanc Meisterstück 146, a Le Grand, made in rose gold, for the 90 anniversary of the brand. It’s a very nice writer, with a piston system and a good weight and feel.

Fountain pen of the day: This is from a curious brand, a 480 pen from PENBBS, a Chinese company that ajes pen with diverse filling systems. This one is a beautiful cartridge/converter with a winter theme. The nib is gorgeous and of very good quality. My issue is that the converter is crap.

Fountain pen of the day: I have mixed feelings about this one, the Pelikan Twist. Is a curious design, with a very good nib. Even the color is interesting. My issues: this is a little uncomfortable if you’re left handed, and the body developed hairline cracks, even in a case.

Fountain pen of the day: A fancy one, this is a Cartier Roadster, a fine resin fountain pen with a 18k gold nibs. It’s a good writer, a little heavy. It isn’t bad, and when I bought it was in the Montblanc price range. But as with the German brand, there are better and cheaper alternatives.

Fountain pen of the day: One of the many Montblanc “homages” from China, the Wing Sung 630 a pen that has the same weight and measurements of the 149. This in particular have a good piston system, an acceptable number 8 steel nib and quality. It’s also cheap.

Fountain pen of the day: This is a gorgeous one, an Estie Botanical Garden. By the new Esterbrook company, this has a good Jowo nib and nice acrylic. Their pens are a little expensive, but their site offers a good variety of options and is very convenient.

Fountain pen of the day: A Fuliwen 917 in matte green, white and orange resin. It’s a very nice design, with a good quality fine nib. It’s a comfortable pen. Also it’s clipless, but I put a Kaweko Sport clip that holds well.
