Remember that time Fantasy Flight Games went all-in on a rank and flank fantasy miniatures game? Oof. It’s a special type of agony to swing for the fences and then whiff. Still, go big or go home, and all that.

As part of our cleanup project, we gave 1983’s Battle at Sarlacc’s Pit to the neighbor kids up the street. The boys’ parents report it’s being used to reenact furious battles on Jabba’s barge “complete with sound effects,” as baddies are tossed screaming into the gaping maw. Makes me quite happy…

Few tasks in my life have been as arduous as (partially) thinning down the hobby collection and then reorganizing the storage room (somewhat). Holy crap! On the plus side, the exercise equipment has been liberated. But heaven help me if I ever need something from the rear right corner of this room.

It's worth mentioning that for the price of a single GW Space Marine Captain in Gravis Armour you can get 36 Late Roman Armoured Infantry models from Victrix. I'm going to use these in the new Pillage wargame, historical inaccuracies be damned. If I want Vikings fighting my Arthurians, so be it.

Pre-owned metal chaos warriors. I'm pretty sure these are Ral Partha sculpts. It's crazy to me how much cheaper non-GW figures are on the second-hand market. I suppose I couldn't use them at the Warhammer store, but other than that, they work just as good.

Food Fight, the game of food-based cafeteria combat by Bryce Knorr, featured in Dragon magazine #44 back in December of 1980. Magazine cover art by the great Phil Foglio. Despite the constant looming specter of nuclear annihilation, that was a fun time to be a kid.
