A quick run to the Dendy in Newtown as cheers came from everywhere as Australia won their first match to see The World of Love. A truely beautiful Korean film which grew as you unfolded what the story was.

Loved both films today. Neither best of the festival. Beautifully filmed but the subject is something I’m only too aware of. Why did Noora’s mum not listen to her daughter. It certainly put the secular Norwegian town in a bad light.

When planning our film list for
#sydfilmfest
we left this one out. a depressing film about dementia? We rearranged our day. Tom Courtney as the husband lovingly coping with caring. Juliette Binoche as the daughter trying to protect mum - Anna Calder Marshall. So many issues so sensitively handled.

More a drama doc than a historical epic BUT exceedingly well filmed in Jordan and Palestine. An amazingly well directed piece.I found the Brits appeared as caricatures.
Seeing this as an anti Zionist Jew was very moving and a reminder as to why the ME is a mess.
Very brave of SFF to put it on.

Sundays Was this a propaganda film for the Catholic Church or was it a film about an adolescent girl who needed emotional stability. I believe the latter. Her father found it hard to relate to her or give emotional support. The church took its place.#sydfilmfest

A Fox under the Pink Moon which Moon was an extraordinary film made entirely from footage on a mobile. I can see why my husband loved it. I could have walked out. A young girl trying to escape an abusive marriage and regime while making art should be shown more widely but I could not engage with it

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I enjoyed the slow pace, the beautiful scenery, its simplicity and the hurt that the two main characters had caused by bias and discrimination by those around them. The Mutation

My first film was Wizard of the Kremlin. An interesting way to learn about recent Russian history and Jude Law was superbly cast as Putin but Dano who played the main character had such a soporific voice.
