When the neo-Nazis started to congregate and organise in Victoria years ago, we sounded the alarm.  A parliamentary inquiry initiated by the Greens gave the Victorian government a good chance to understand the nature of the threat posed by these right-wing extremists.

Everything Labor does from now on to support Palestinian liberation will be BECAUSE of the power of the Palestinians & everyday people who have mobilised against the genocide. Not because of Labor’s morality or courage.

Labor has approved Australia’s largest fossil fuel project today. Woodside’s North West Shelf project will be allowed to burn gas until 2070. It will spew 4.3 BILLION tonnes of carbon pollution over its lifetime. Our planet does not stand a chance with Labor in charge.

After weeks of counting, the final results for Wills are in. We achieved a 7.57+ swing to the Greens! We fell short by 1.5% or 1600 votes, but have narrowed the margin. It’s never been closer. And it’s now clear that Labor cannot win Wills without Liberal and One Nation preferences.

Why won’t Australia sanction, or even threaten to sanction Israel? Gaza has been starved intentionally since March the 2nd.

In The Age today, there is an extensive piece by Chip Le Grand about the election campaign in Wills. You will notice the absence of the voices and perspectives of all the other candidates except for Labor.

This week Labor confirmed that the Upfield train line will have NO more than 3 trains per hour. Now the election is done, their pretence of doing anything about the Upfield line is over.  The status quo continues: ❌public school funding cuts ❌poor services in the north

👋🏽 A quick update regarding the Wills vote count. While some media outlets are projecting a Labor win in Wills, we understand that there are over 10k votes that haven’t been counted that could make the result much closer. We are unlikely to know more until the end of the week.

Our campaign to turn Wills Greens has been historic 💚 The count remains close & the results will go up and down over the next few days. But I remain hopeful as I have throughout this incredible journey. I’ve always been ready to serve our community & that will never change.

Today’s the day. We are on the brink of something historic here in Wills. If less than 1 in 10 people change their vote, the Greens can win here. A better world is possible, you just have to vote for it.

Devastating to wake up to more civilian carnage in Gaza. Israel has broken the ceasefire and the Palestinian people are being asked to pay the price. When will our government sanction Israel?

Today, what we have suspected for months was confirmed. Labor is retreating from public housing in Victoria. No public housing will be rebuilt at Flemington and North Melbourne. And it doesn’t take alot to guess what will happen to the remaining 40 sites they’ll bulldoze.

It is beyond disappointing that Labor and ‘independent’ councillors at Merri-bek voted to stop flying the Palestinian flag. In the face of grave injustice, being neutral is taking the side of the oppressor.

Many of the people I have been talking to in our community are struggling to get by with the cost of housing, groceries, health care all going up. At the same time Australia’s billionaires are raking in an average of $67, 000 an hour. The Greens have a plan to tax the billionaires.

Data out yesterday showed there are only 13 bulk billing clinics across Wills. That is 5 less than last year. And that the average cost of a short consult is $89. People shouldn’t be missing out on healthcare because of cost.

We all knew what a 2nd Trump presidency could bring, but some days can still leave you utterly floored. The Labor Government must oppose President Trump’s threats against the Palestinians with everything it has. Australia must not play any part in it.

The recent spate of anti-semitism across the country is deeply disturbing and especially terrifying for the Jewish community. Anyone who has experienced racism and hatred knows the deep pain these incidents cause. These acts have no place in our community.

Good news tonight as the next Nightingale not-for-profit housing project gets approved by Merri-bek Council! Disappointing to see some Labor councillors oppose it, but the strong community support & the leadership of Greens and independents prevailed.

I’m worried that Labor may be about to sink the next Nightingale housing project in Merri bek. The 72 townhouse project in Coburg will be built by the only not-for-profit developer in the area, providing affordable housing and sustainability excellence.

As dystopia morphs into reality today, so many of us dread what could happen now with Trump and the billionaires at the helm. I fear for all those fleeing for their lives or seeking a better life as migrants, being used as scapegoats for everything.

News of a ceasefire is a relief & reprieve, but the work towards a just & lasting peace continues. We have seen the brutal face of war. Thousands of lives lost & destroyed. Whole histories wiped out. The international community & governments must keep working until Palestine is free.

Great to be back chatting to the local community after the holiday break! We’ve been out in Pascoe Vale and Hadfield over the last few days. Lots of people telling us that cost of living is the biggest worry for them. And so many want dental into Medicare and to see the GP for free.

Congratulations to all the year 12s receiving results, closing one chapter to begin the next. You are inheriting a big & wonderful world, but also one headed into troubled times. Do what makes your heart sing & serves a bigger cause. Care and courage can change the world.

Solidarity to workers picketing Woolworths for better pay and conditions.  Supermarket corporations are making billions in profits, while workers struggle and people can’t afford food.  Workplaces that force people to become robots are bad for workers & bad for our community.

The Australia we arrived to in 1989 felt like a very different place than it does today. Hawke was prime minister, the nation was talking about its place in Asia and we felt welcomed. When you are forced from your homelands, the welcome you receive can make or break your life.
