Good lord the amount of stupid news that has happened since I last logged in here 3 hours ago

I always mean to take my Apple watch off before I teach but usually forget. I talk with my hands so much that it always thinks I'm walking for miles when I'm just sitting or standing in place.

My husband just texted me a photo that the Wine Source is now stocking Taharka Brothers ice cream. This is terrible news! The only thing keeping me from eating way too much honey graham ice cream is the fact that I had to go out of my way to buy it.

I'm behind on my reading goal for the year. If I figure I need to read 25 books every quarter to get to 100, I'm 5 short at the moment and don't think I'm going to get that many books read before next Wednesday.

I really love that I'm only allowed to fill prescriptions/get vaccines at CVS based on my insurance since they keep shutting all the CVS's in Baltimore. The two CVS's I got my last vaccines at have both closed.

I really like my GYN who I've been seeing for over 20 years, but I dislike that she left her OB practice a couple years ago and moved into a primary care practice as GYN only because it means instead of sharing a waiting room with pregnant people I'm sitting with a bunch of sick people.

No one seems to be considering that Disney agreed to bring back Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday precisely because they know it's going to be the rapture and thus isn't going to matter.

After eating approximately 5 grapes off this bunch from the farmers market I uncovered this giant spider web nest thing and am now never eating grapes again

But if you donate to PBS and get PBS Passport you get all the episodes dropped at once (or at least you have in previous years) if you're into binge viewing. We watch on Passport but still dole it out to ourselves once per week to have a little morsel of joy every week for 7 weeks.

I'm just going to continue to be over here in my little corner talking to myself about non-terrible things, which mostly in my life means music. I discovered Sadie Gust at #XPNFest this weekend. She doesn't have a ton of music out, but I've been listening to it all morning. Great performer too.

In 2020 I had concert tickets to see two artists I had never seen and was bummed to miss thanks to covid . For various reasons they have both continued to elude me until today. I have finally seen Soccer Mommy! Japanese Breakfast is still my white whale.

The fact that I have found this final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty so boring has given me lots of time while watching to ponder how freaking big the music budget on this show is for them to afford non-stop Taylor Swift songs

In the grand scheme of everything that’s happening this is nothing, but my favorite podcast has changed its format presumably due to budget cuts and now I don’t like it as much. Dedicated cohosts who develop rapport is better than a single host talking to random people. I can’t have nice things.

Had a date night with dinner at Tapas Teatro and seeing Baltimorons at the Charles. It was a sweet and funny movie though I was very distracted the entire time knowing the city and the fact that how their characters were driving around it made no sense.

If I were extremely rich I'd want to fund a bunch of grants for all the unsexy stuff. Everyone always wants to fund cool new things. I want to fund infrastructure upkeep and deferred maintenance. I want to give awards for people just doing good at their job even if the work isn't innovative.

I bought a mum for my front stoop this weekend and it’s making me very happy. I’ve been jealous of all the mums on my neighbors stoops for years but was too lazy to go by my own. Then I wound up standing right next to mums for sale at the farmers market, so mum acquired for this year.

Every day this week I'm going to post one public(ish) person who is using their platform to uplift people and create positive energy in the world. Starting with Phil Rosenthal from the Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil because I saw him at the Lyric on Saturday. He creates so much joy.

I'm not sure I'm ready to be back on here yet, but I wanted to pop in and say how happy I am that Jeff Hiller won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy last night for Somebody, Somewhere. That show is such a gift. If you haven't watched it do yourself a favor and do it now.

It probably wasn't done for the right reasons, and it certainly backfired on them in a big way, but I have to say I think Nepal might have had the right idea in banning all social media in the country. With that I take my leave and will see you next week, maybe.

Even if I hadn't seen how old the crowd was, I would have known from my vantage point in the balcony based on the fact that the majority of the people in the crowd recording things on their phone were holding them horizontally.

Reliving my misspent youth seeing Rilo Kiley at the Anthem. This crowd is unsurprisingly much more my age than Lucy Dacus which is the last show I saw here. I felt like everyone’s mother at that one.
