STOP BEING WEIRD TO DISABLED PEOPLE. Over the weekend, a man literally bent down towards me and did a thumbs up in my face, like hailing a bus. Because I use a wheelchair so that's funny, I guess? I literally cannot go out on a night out without something like this happening.

Alice Wong was an inspiration, not because she was disabled, but because she never let the bastards grind her down. To say she will be missed is simply an understatement.

The instruction manual didn't mention having to remove the cat between each step of assembly.

Wore my keffiyeh into work this morning, and while in the lift a hijabi lass said she liked it because she could tell I was one of the safe ones. I hate that marginalised communities feel unsafe, but if something so simple helps, I'm wearing this every time I go outside.

Was supposed to be going somewhere this weekend, but lack of investment in the north means there's no bus between 2 places an hour apart. No biggie, right? Except, the prospect of having to navigate trains as a disabled person at short notice put me off going altogether.

My favourite genre of man is the ones that get visibly confused when I don't automatically move out of their way.

Not to sound like a Boomer but... Finally "upgraded" to wireless earbuds and now I have to charge a case to charge my headphones that then need updating to be able to listen to music. HOW IS THIS AN IMPROVEMENT?!?

Advice needed: I need a cup holder for my new wheelchair. However, I cant attach anything to the base that would impact it folding up. It would need to be easy to remove. The arm bars are also not circular, so anything clipped to them tends to fall off. Recommendations?

Just found out that Leeds Pride are now charging groups to march in the parade, essentially meaning only corporations and big charities can march. The group I was going with can no longer march. Gutted and honestly kinda angry too.

Every single labour MP who voted in favour of the bill, thinking the 'concessions' make it OK, should do some serious self-reflection. I don't care that my benefits are safer, it's not fair & it's not right. And to vote it in during Disability Pride Month is especially vile.

PIP Update (with gifs). My PIP has not only been approved, but increased. That's how the system should work - I have more diagnoses and symptoms, so I need more help. This means I can replace my literally falling apart powered wheelchair.

Does anyone know what the gender neutral term for aunt/uncle is? Because I'm going to be one!

I'm so angry right now. 6 months ago I booked accessible gig tickets for the first time since the pandemic. Today l'm told the gig has moved to O2 Academy in Leeds. Fine, it's accessible. Except it's undergoing work with the lift blocked, with no alternative access. So I can't go.

The biggest problem within the queer community right now is we've established what a 'normal' queer relationship looks like; 2 cis men or women, usually white, young and able bodied. Anything outside that is immediately deemed fake and attention-seeking.

When you find out a disability rights organisation has been using AI to generate social media content, and when called out claims it's an accessibility tool and says the criticism is harassment. This is precisely why so many disabled people are jaded with these organisations.

Just encountered a lorry blocking not 1 but 2 lowered curbs, making it impossible for me to cross independently, and the driver didn't even acknowledge me or apologise. I get parking large vehicles is hard, but there's no need to block every single crossing on a road!

I have my first in-person PIP review in almost a decade later this month. Besides ID and a list of medications, what should I bring? And how should I dress? Theres a balance to be struck between making a good impression vs. being deemed fake for looking too smart.
