The rain has washed away the last of Jax's paw prints from our yard. 😭

Had a good cry in therapy. Then Emily and I got out of the house. We got manicures, went shopping and had lunch. It helped a little. But I still had to come home to an empty house.

I miss him so much.

Never one to be left behind, my sweet Jax followed Cooper over the rainbow bridge this afternoon. His decline was extremely rapid. Liver failure took him in less than 24 hours. He was a shithead, but the best boy. I'm devastated.

The evening has taken a turn. I'm at the emergency vet with Jax. He's got a rock hard abdomen and is in a lot of pain. I'm not ready for this.

Bless this man. And he's refusing to charge me. He even put down ice melt.

Bless my neighbor for coming over and breaking up the ice hill that leads to my front door. Carried groceries in earlier and had to slide down a foot to my entry every time.

You never quite realize how many people are obsessed with milk until a snow/ice-pocalypse hits.

Matt was activated by the MS National Guard earlier this week. I'm not sure when he'll be back home. He's currently in north MS helping coordinate storm relief efforts. Getting folks to dialysis, helping those who are stuck, clearing debris, etc... THIS is what our National Guard should be doing.

Made it to Kroger and secured food for the weekend and my medicine. Also got the kid McDonald's because you'd think she was going through burger withdraw over here. Don't plan on leaving the house again until Monday.

My snow-loving senior Corgi has had enough of this ice BS. He's slipped and slid so much that he's pulled his right front drummy. He's limping and looks at me like, "I for real gotta go back out there and pee in this?" every time I let him out.

Therapist cancelled Monday due to an emergency. Now he's running behind because he's on the phone with a judge. I need therapy, sir!! I have feelings!! I've been traumatized by the weather, and I've been cooped up in my house alone with my kid for a week. I NEED TO TALK TO AN ADULT!

Cooper crossed the rainbow bridge last night. My parents are devastated. Emily and I are heartbroken. He was the gentlest dog I've ever met in my life. He lived 12 beautiful years before cancer and sepsis took him from us.

Took Jax for a walk and he was going very slow. I remembered the vet saying that he's effectively blind at night now, so I turned on my flashlight for him and he sped up. Because he could see 😭

Took the widget to the vet because he's been peeing in the house at night, and that's not normal. They can't find anything wrong with him there, but did tell me he's got cataracts (no surprise) and that they're so bad he's effectively blind in dim light/at night. 😭

I have a closet full of presents to deal with and I don't wanna.

Furniture folks called yesterday and were like, oh yeah....your couch and loveseat will be there tomorrow. Cool cool cool. They call 10 minutes before they arrive to let me know that the loveseat didn't make it on the truck and they can't deliver it until Thursday. Couch comes ... with a tear.

I've been sitting at this desk since 9 a.m., and I've yet to get one of the four things I'm working on across the finish line.

Em is finally reading at the correct level. I had to start her with basic phonics last year because her old school didn't teach her squat but sight words. So in the span of a year and a half, she's gone from a kindergarten to second-grade level, and I couldn't be more proud of her.
