Here is someone who was thrilled that we had our first outdoor dinner of the year a few hours after this portrait. He fully expected fresh ravioli and made hearty attempts to obtain some.

TIL there is a such thing as zeppole pizza. This is from my favorite place for bakery pizza, so it’s probably great. I didn’t get any normal zeppole this year.

I just cut myself on an (uncooked) noodle, if anyone was wondering how my day is going.

Ah, the traditional Saint Patrick’s Day meal of short grain brown rice, black garlic, air fried tofu, home fermented kimchi, 3 kinds of green allius, and choi sum with toasted sesame oil and soy sauce.

Spring peepers are out in full force and are loud! There’s so much flooding, I expect them right near the front door.

At least Saturday was very pretty - not a bad view from near Boston.

We had no phone/internet for half the day yesterday. I have to work from home. We went to 2 libraries that had hotspots to borrow, but they were all out (it was a small outage, so not for the same issue). It was restored late at night, 3 hours after estimated restoration - I was sweating it.

I thought the Papa Gino’s sign said “wake up with a meatball pillow”. Close. It actually said “warm up with a meatball sandwich. I like mine better.

Happy cat in open window, happy bees all over the witch hazel. Anything else that might bloom this early is under snow. I don’t even think native witch hazel is blooming, just Arnold’s Promise. It was 70 degrees out, so good thing the screens are in.

Okay everyone, I accidentally invented THE best band name. Yes, this came out of my mouth spontaneously without trying to invent a band. Where do I collect the $ so I can finally retire?! Ready? *Tribe of the Tricycle Track* - please do not profit without sharing it with me.

My little horse stormed into the paddock where the big horse had been, and gleefully stole her dish, so she could drink her “tea”(juice?). It was opaque brown mud slurry. She didn’t lose her cool, though.

Cool! There are already lots of bees on my witch hazel, which just started blooming.

This might be the first day when the greenhouse has been over 100 degrees, since the cats have had access if they like. Waldorf looks like king of the jungle, chilling in there in a cardboard box that is on its side. It’s beautiful outside or in the barn, but a box in a hot place is chosen.

Maybe someday I’ll remember that my daily driver Le Creuset Dutch oven does not, ever, fit a batch of my usual pasta e fagiole. Let’s transfer this one to a lobster pot AGAIN.

Getting around in slush and snow has gotten very old, but the scenery can be pretty.

I didn’t even know this ice cube tray was faceted. Surprisingly pretty grapefruit juice cubes for on-demand homemade hydration solution in the future.

I guess he doesn’t have the keys. He can’t reach the pedals anyway.

I have a new band name: Gooey Scarf. It did come about organically and spontaneously, but you don’t want to know the context.

My iPad does have a hardware failure of some kind (only took 2 visits to figure that out), so I guess I should get an older iPad mini or something as a backup for the future. I want to figure out how best to recycle mine.

I saw Maine National Guard and Pennsylvania DOT trucks trucking snow away in RI today. It’s a good thing they are here, it’s just so odd to see.

I have my nice new iPad (I have no idea what improvements there are on the 11 compared to my 6), BUT wow my first bad Genius Bar experience. My old iPad wouldn’t try to boot there. It boot loops at home, but that uses so much power that I can’t keep it charged. (1/2)

0 progress on my new iPad. I actually got an Apple refurb that was inoperable, to my surprise. I ordered 2nd one, guaranteed tomorrow (in time for my appt at the Apple Store) - later quietly changed to late Monday. Um. This should not be so difficult! I have now purchased THREE and will return 2.

Amazing time for my iPad to have what looks like hardware failure - I don't have a phone&this is my control center. Calendar, communications, meetings, notes... all inaccessible. I don't even know what apps I should be checking for web versions. A new refurb will be here Friday, but I need the old.

We are getting a little more snow tomorrow & Thursday. Then the threat of 12-17” more on Tuesday. Nothing will be passable here if all of that happens… Plus it will be raining or thawing and then freezing. The barely wide enough to use driveway with 4’ high sides will be a skating rink.

It’s hard work clearing all this snow if you’re a teeny little kitty - these are full sized trash and recycling cans (trash day was supposed to be today). The cats thought it was great fun that we were out there, whatever we were doing.

Someday I’ll wonder about this picture. Helpful working cat.

Tomorrow is another day of snow clearing. Maybe 1/3 of it is done. At least the street got plowed. None of the animals’ coziness was threatened at any time during the blizzard (but some of them were bored).

Estimates have been updated and we could get 3 FEET of snow from this storm. We had a bunch of it left from the last few. UGH!!

A couple of hours ago. I’m glad some of the snow is blowing off the balcony.

The horses mocked my struggle by joyfully rolling in the snow and running around. Must be nice.

Miserable blinding blowing wetness… a foot of heavy new snow in the driveway by 5am. I did my best, but plowing in it was nearly impossible. Hopefully it’s enough to get by until after work (and maybe it’ll slow down by then).

My trusty early 1990s ski pants preparing to go to work. I’m sure lots of people are similarly dressed. Oh, and I have a balaclava that makes me look like a cat.
