Beyond the officiating, Liverpool look uncertain defensively. The back line’s spacing has been inconsistent, and Van Dijk in particular looks uncomfortable in his role. Actually looking quitE frustrated. #LFC

Some of his substitutions have been baffling (Endo yesterday?), and Wirtz has been dropped. Selling Díaz for £70m and watching him bang in goals for Bayern just makes it worse. #LFC

It is getting painful to watch. This is now Slot’s team and it looks disjointed, the defence is very poor, and the new signings haven’t settled. After the match he was talking about “fine margins” and saying he hoped Salah and Isak will click soon. Doesn’t inspire confidence. #LFC

Kerkes had his best game in red today, strong, composed, and looked like he loved being in a derby scrap. Big step forward for him. #LFC

Ekitike is already showing how to influence games straight away. He has adapted more rapidly compared to the other new arrivals, and his consistent, positive attitude from day one has clearly accelerated that process. #LFC
