Today, we honor and commemorate the end of slavery in the US. On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas with news of freedom and the end of slavery by the Emancipation Proclamation. I hope your day is full of celebrations of community and culture.

A great evening with the South of Conant Neighborhood Watch! We talked through a lot - from public safety and traffic concerns to how local issues connect to what’s happening citywide. I appreciated the questions, ideas, and care folks have for our neighborhood.
