The thing about this hire to me is, they must have been really convicted and convinced. But this was the best option for Petzing, feel confident saying that. Lions OC job should have been treated like the coveted opening it was, nothing wrong seeing how the chips fall and go back to the guy you like

Brad Holmes said they have to have some conversations with David Montgomery to figure out that future for him and the team. GM said he loves Montgomery and hopes he's here. But he deserves a situation where his skillsets can be utilized.

Brad Holmes said they waited so long to put Kerby Joseph on IR because he kept making strides in bits/pieces. But he was urgently trying to get right to play, and the last setback cost him the season. There is optimism he'll heal up when taking out the urgent push to play now.

The Lions have reached out to former Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel about their vacant offensive coordinator position, sources say. McDaniel is a top candidate for any open OC job.

With Taylor Decker considering his playing future, Dan Campbell said they certainly learned some lessons after Frank Ragnow's retirement last offseason in how to prepare for that situation. Knows Decker needs time to decide. Said he will meet with him and Brad Holmes here soon.

Dan Campbell when asked about changes to come to start the offseason: "I'm going to need a little bit here. I'm going to need a few days here."

Lions have added an illness to Taylor Decker's game status report. Decker was already questionable due to his lingering shoulder issues.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) was estimated as a non-participant at Monday's walkthrough. Dan Campbell said he's hopeful it's just irritation from yesterday's game. They'll know more tonight or tomorrow. But said it was something that popped up when he got to the facility today.
