My autism is interesting: planning for a 23-day road trip has been feeling great, then a small change in plans that is totally manageable threw me into a brief episode this mornings. Pens and notebook soared toward the tv and I had to go lay down. Doing better now, let’s pack the van.

I’m gonna do better, Blsky. I promise. The thing is, I went crazy this summer and drove all around the #PNW catching fish and forgot about everything else. #flyfishing has consumed my life. It’s made me even more socially dysfunctional than before. God, I love my life so much.

Good time on the Donner and Blitzen… deep and murky, but I got an 18 incher to eat a Dali Lama. What a fight, too. This thing was an acrobat! Wild redsides! Woohoo!

Heading out to the Donner and Blitzen River tomorrow. 6 hr drive into the desert and I am STOKED. Should be some good material for an article.

Metolius River flow is too intense for me. So hard to wade, so hard to track a fly/indicator. Also, I can’t catch a fish to save my life on that river. I don’t even know if I care anymore… #flyfishing

First ketamine treatment this afternoon… nervous but I have some hope. Depression has held me in a strong grip since last October or so. Then I’m headed to the Metolius for a few days of fishing.

There were some good times down in Puerto Vallarta... mostly revolving around dinner and sunsets. But overall, the all-inclusive resort scene is antithetical to my entire way of being. I felt trapped most of the week and I'm so happy I'm home.

Just finished up the edits on my article on fishing with Chuck Ragan for Trout Magazine... I'm grateful for the experience and can't wait to do it again. Thanks Chuck!

I shopped at #rei for decades because as a coop member I had a stake in the company. At the end of the year I could cash in my dividend or spend it at the store. Now, there is no dividend, only “member rewards”. They are not a coop, and don’t deserve your money. (1/?)

Re: #flyfishing and #mentalhealth: you go fishing and you get relief, but you come back from the river to the same old feelings and problems in your life. Fly fishing won’t take care of those, only help you cope with them. Go to therapy, integrate what you learn and feel on the river.

There’s always talk in #flyfishing about how it’s great for mental health. It is, and it’s only a band aid. You also need to engage your feelings and deal with them. Fly fishing is a brace, not the actual surgery. Folx who fly fish need therapy, too.
