I finally got around to implementing the battle UI, so the battle system should be actually somewhat comprehensible now, ahahahaha.

Having not added any visual indicators for which character is which yet, it's kind of fun to load up two random teams and try to figure out who's who on the fly based on what actions they take ahahahaha.

Ok so it's been a month and it's clear that my current approach of pre-designing the enemy encounters for this game in a vacuum isn't gonna work. I'm going to move on to overworld programming, and use randomly assembled enemy groups as placeholders so I can get a feel for what works via testing.

Dungeon Antiqua 2... pretty fun, though it's what some circles would call "rompy".

When finding out about "RBY STABmons" your first thought might be that Rock, Fighting and Bug type Pokemon might be made viable by gaining actual appropriate attacking moves. But don't be fooled - take a peek inside and you will be greeted by these heinous warcrimes:

This week I've been working on the encounter design for my game. There have been many exciting developments, like me making 5 different spreadsheets trying to figure out which characters combine well together, and extracting exactly zero actual encounter designs out of this process.

I spent the last few days making a big spreadsheet for balancing my game... Making small changes to the numbers and watching the cascading effects across all the different characters is too addicting, so I think I'm gonna have to stop here even if I'm not 100% satisfied with the balance lol.

Alright, I've added animations for everything so you can kind of see what's going on. Hopefully I'll be able to replace the placeholder graphics before this game gets a reputation for being about babies punching each other.

Starting to make headway on my next project. This might look like a video of two dolls bashing each other repeatedly, but there's a fully-functioning battle system underneath it visible only in the debug logs, I promise!
