When certain politicians do not react to rising emissions and the resulting temperature increases, it is not because they know better (see graph). They are gambling with the population because they do not dare to make the right but potentially unpopular decisions that could cost them their seats.

Arctic sea ice (December) was stable until around the 1980s, but has since declined by about 20%. This is another indicator that we are changing the world we have borrowed from our children and grandchildren, and we continue to increase the amount of problems and challenges they have to live with.

I fully understand why politicians who want BAU call for pragmatism and realism, because it is much harder to say that on their watch, the lives of all future generations will get worse, millions of people will be refugees or die, and societies in some Pacific countries will cease to exist...

Electric cars are truly taking over the market. Fossil cars will fade into oblivion, just as horse-drawn vehicles did. But the fact that Trump and his climate denialism have hit the US and the EU has expanded the ability to produce and sell fossil cars risks delaying the transition.
