It's the hardcore ideological Left with their arrogance, privilege and purity tests who refused to vote for Kamala - which is why we are where we are.

I personally have no intention to voluntarily cut myself off from information, inspiration and community and to isolate myself in an echo chamber - and any activist I follow who is getting great work done would never voluntarily give up their most effective tool, imperfect though it is.

There are so many great experts, activists and analysts - and just people telling their stories is powerful. They are shaping culture, openly defiant, sharing their work and poking fun at these people who want to get into our heads and under our skin. Don't obey in advance and claim the space.

Sometimes, even progressives try to do that - sabotaging any effort to spread awareness as well as educational resources, to vet trustworthy creators so that we might be able to share this content to keep people informed and engaged, as well as lifting their spirits and making them less alone.

It's a massive creative challenge to use all of the tools available, stay true to your values, resist manipulation and navigate this media landscape whilst dealing with all of the ways these people intentionally try to make it hard, from sabotaging channels to massive abuse online.

Unfortunately Billionaires buy these gathering places and try to ruin them, but having built an audience, it is possible to move onto another platform - such as Patreon - and continue the work. They do it to legacy media too. Elon ruined Twitter and Jeff Bezos the Washington Post.

Social media are just one aspect of a toolkit and networking opportunity that can be incredibly effective when used well - and in combination with other methods. All of the experts and activists I support use social media creatively and have become a force to be reckoned with - offline.
