I’ve watched the first 4 minutes of MIA v NOLA and the Pelicans just got punked. Trey was thrown to the ground 4x, Bey hits the deck, all the wings and bigs were moved for offensive rebounds. The game was lost in 4 minutes, because the Heat knew they could have their way with them.

Pels put forward a valiant effort this game, but the Heat are just in a different echelon.

Wow, this is relatively new, but it seems like the Pels can string together runs of high level play. This mostly centers around Saddiq (& formerly Jose) bailing out the team, but suddenly the team is operating like a high octane machine. More consistent strings of that, the better they become.

Seems like Queen is starting to find his shot from deep. Vital for him.

Right now the Heat have gotten 18 more scoring opportunities than the Pelicans due to a combination of rebounding and turnovers. Almost impossible to win a game when you lose the possession battle that badly

Trey has some equity with his passing. His handle limits the ceiling with that, but I genuinely think Trey has another gear he could hit with his passing if he really works on it.

Fears being on the bench has done wonders for him. Without being the lead guard & having to organize the entire O by himself, he can do what he does best, which is attack openings & move the ball. He also grew up playing the 2 guard next to his brother, so he's used to this role over lead guard

I haven't tracked this at all, but just based on vibes, with the ball in his hands he's top 7 in the league wrt pure foot speed.

This game will be another example of how Looney should at least get some spot minutes to supplement the big rotation when Queen is having a bad game & Karlo's skills aren't completely necessary

With no Yves, you need Karlo & Looney to try to do what they do best. Looney has to do the Herb plays when Herb isn't in & Karlo HAS to get boards.

Importantly, the Spurs know when to move on! That's huge part of roster building. The Pelicans handed Hawkins his 4th year deal for no reason.

Beard & Spida or B and S lol, is kind of an elite backcourt. Harden handles stirring the primary drink & getting everyone sorted, Mitchell can just play his game by making his reads + sinking his shots. Simplifies Mitchell's role. Reminds me of the Tatum/Brown combo.

Tobias Harris is imo the prototypical innings eater. He's constantly giving good minutes to solid teams, but he's not really the driver of those minutes. He's the beneficiary lol. Talented dude, exceptional skills at his size. If he's driving the bus, the bus is not very high powered.

Rebounding is a mindset and approach & tbh it seems like the processing power of everyone is so focused on the defense that they forget to finish out the possession.
