Today is a good day to listen to some Green Day!

I decided to take a small break from feelings of dread and hours of paperwork to go thrifting. Picked up 13 games for $35. Three games are new in shrink. #boardgames

We’re reading The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, where the main character uses bottle caps, bamboo, a plastic bottle, etc to build a mini windmill to power a radio. I said out loud, “Wow, he really macgyvered that together.” Nothing but blank stares or looks of confusion. I’m so old.

It’s safe to say I understand Ada’s Dream much better. I won 104 to 90. I do like the game a little bit better. Still don’t feel compelled to get this game to the table on regular basis, but wouldn’t say no if I were invited to play. #boardgames

Ada’s Dream didn’t quite do it for me last time. Hubby read through rules again, discovered a few mistakes we were making, and then re-explained a part of the game I had ignored, but is actually important to scoring. Let’s see how this play through goes. #boardgames

I have Raynaud’s, a circulatory disorder that can cause nerve damage w/o proper (sometimes expensive) precautions. Couldn’t believe my luck thrifting a brand new Ororo heated fleece vest, with tags and original packaging, for $15. #thrifting

Ada’s Dream is all set up on the table. Hubby read through the rules once and now we’re going to learn to play. #boardgames

This game is definitely giving the Euro vibe. Just cracked open Ada’s Dream. The setup is going to take a min so may not get to this game today. #boardgames

I half played Dice Theme Park and that’s all I’m going to say about that. On the plus side, hubby really enjoyed this game. #boardgames

Who’s up for some BBQ? Going to try this silly dexterity game, Barbecubes. #boardgames

Baghdad is an excellent game. If you like worker placement (w/a twist), the rondel mechanic, huge point salad, and the opportunity to think through your turns while your opponent(s) play, then get this game. An extremely well planned and play tested game. I won w/score of 122 to 86. #boardgames

Just steeped some tea and set up the game Baghdad by Alley Cat Games. Now on to learning the rules. #boardgames

I know I’m getting old because I’m excited my FIL replaced my cabin air filter in my car as a Christmas gift.

A former student of my husband’s, who’s an adult now, left hubby a box of high end chocolates as a thank you gift. Hubby and I were out so student txted pic of gift. When we got home, the gift was torn up. Squirrel(s?) got into gift and ate 10 of 16 chocolates. There’s such a sick squirrel(s) rn.

Went to one of our FLGS and taught a friend Cascadia. Our final scores: 90, 90, 90. My very last play was to snag one more pinecone. That left me w/2 pinecones and everyone else w/one. I swear I didn’t know that was the tiebreaker. #boardgames

This is my 2nd time trying Morels. I remember not enjoying it very much the first time I played, but I can’t tell you why. Hubby has never tried the game and he thrifted. Maybe a 2nd play will be more fun. #boardgames

Listening to students during free time. S1: It’s like Schrödinger’s Cat. S2: What’s that? S1: It’s when you put a cat in the box and pour acid on the cat. S2: Why would you pour acid on a cat? S1: No, you can’t see the cat so you don’t know it’s there. S2: But you said YOU put the cat in the box.

Up next, Cat in the Box is auditioning for our game collection. I thrifted this game last week and hubby has always wanted to try this game. The previous owner only played this game 2p based on cards and components arrangement. Let’s see how this game plays. #boardgames

I crochet and know next to nothing about knitting. But my crochet knowledge taught me enough to know Goodwill had a handmade knit sweater hanging on the racks. This beauty is designed by Kate Davies and the pattern can be purchased on Ravelry. I paid $10 for this gorgeous work. #knitting

With the windchill, it’s -11°F/-24°C. I’m stuck with a bunch of teenagers for a tournament. Why do they dress so inappropriately for the weather? Then they leave vehicle doors open or wind down windows in nicely preheated vehicles.

Multiple staff had their own 67 shirts. In the morning, it was a non-stop chorus of “6-7”, but by the afternoon, kids were over us. I barely heard anyone spewing this brain rot.

This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him. I don’t know how else to say it…

Wish me luck. Give a guess on how many times I’ll hear 6-7 today.

My coworker was complaining about a coworker of his at his second job. My coworker said: I know that man was born via C-section because he’s afraid of labor. 😂😅🤣

Are my coworkers and I inviting misery? Maybe. I’d like to think we’re trolling students a little. We all plan to wear these shirts next week.

This week, I’ve worn sweaters and cardigans I crocheted each day. I usually get a compliment from someone resulting in another person saying, “She made that.” This is often said before I get a thank you out.

There’s a story here. Why did this squirrel (rabbit?) suddenly do the splits?

Epochs Course of Cultures has a large table presence. We cleaned up the 10in/25cm of snow. Now we’re learning the rules to this beast of a game. #boardgames

Snow says we’re not going anywhere tomorrow. Not to mention the 90+ min of snow clean up. We’re setting up Epochs Course of Cultures tonight. Game is 2-3hrs so best to set it up now. #boardgames

Snow looks like it’s slowing down. Only an inch in last 2.5 hours. Still might hit 10 inches of snow before this storm is over.

Up to almost 8.25 inches and still snowing. The shadowing makes it hard to see.

Took a yard stick out to the deck. We’re at 6 inches/15 cm of snow with no sign of the snow stopping soon.

Did we set up Sweet Lands again? Yup. It’s just that much fun. For those of you wondering, hubby timed our set up and it took 23 min. #boardgames

Just finished playing Origin Story. This is a great twist on trick taking. Players add super powers ea turn that can create an engine. In 2p games, players get sidekicks, who are considered players and add an element of strategy. Sidekicks also make it a great 2p game. #boardgames

Just finished Sweet Lands. Definitely a heavy Euro style game with multiple choices and avenues for gaining points. I won w/a score of 143 to 112. Overall, I enjoyed my game, and would play again. There are 2 things that struck me as confusing/missed opportunity. #boardgames

It’s time! No more headache, groceries stocked ahead of the big snowstorm, and lunch eaten. Now it’s time for board games. Sweet Lands has been set up on our table since last night and I’m excited to play. #boardgames

Just watched the first episode of Death by Lightning on Netflix abt how James Garfield accidentally became a presidential nominee. The whole show is so well done. The props dept appeared to have a great time. The acting is fantastic.

I’ve been suffering from a headache since last night right before bed. I still want to play our stack of new games. Hubby has slowly been setting up Sweet Lands. I doubt we’ll get to it this evening. I’m enjoying the artwork. #boardgames
