Just ate a delicious cheese & tomato sandwich. The brie came from our local cheesemaker - a small business burgled-to-order this week. The heritage tomato was from our local organic farm - a small business that lost half their grazing in a fire this week. Supporting community by eating well.

I’ve been a-mending. I bought this top, unworn and still with its tags in place, from a charity shop but couldn’t wear it because the sleeves were too long for my arms and my taste. Fixing it was a puzzle without a simple, obvious solution, so I did nothing. For years. Yesterday, I solved it.

This afternoon I altered the annoyingly extravagant, bell-shaped sleeves on a dress I’ve been wearing for at least 30 years. I wore it so much the colour faded and I had to overdye it (about 10 years ago). There’s a skirt awaiting mending that I bought in 1985. Sewing machine manufactured 1980.
