I forgot how to draw hands and feet

God I FUCKING LOVE learning new things that I can then put into practice and visibly show progress and share it with people even though it may not be to their standards but it's okay because you don't have to appease everyone because then you're appeasing no one including yourself!!!!!

Fun fact: different people learn differently so while everyone is capable of drawing art, the ways they get there vary wildly, so certain methods could just not work for you no matter how much you practice. Drawing every day can help but not if you're using a method that doesn't work for you.

I keep making my drawing too small and so my brushes always feel too big. But if I make the drawings bigger then my brushes feel too small. Is this a common issue or am I just overthinking this? I see drawings with such fine detail and here I am drawing everything as blobs.

Stylization practice. Feels like I’ve got a lot more stuff stored in my brain than I thought. Took just a bit of trial and error to recover my face style. Just need to recover perspective and anatomy and I’ll be back to my previous skill level.

My New Years (Eve) resolution is to relearn how to draw, and to also use way more references this year.

I tried dabbling in locally-run LLMs to make into characters (like Neurosama) so that nobody can say I never gave it a chance, and to learn something new. Surprise, it sucked turbo ass. Just gonna start practicing art again instead of wasting time trying to get this shit figured out.

That Frieren meme is so relatable. I made the same mistakes on a piece I was (and still am) proud of lmfao Drawing isn't a pure knowledge thing, the knowledge you gather is used to form muscle memory. Recalling absolutely everything every single time you draw is impossible for a human.

I hate that I went so hard on learning drawing that I got burnt out, and right when I was supposed to be able to start refining the things I've learned. At least I've internalized most of it so that I could just take up a refresher whenever I wanna start again.

Came back to drawing after a break, noggin was throbbin. Found myself getting stuck on the torso. The TORSO, the literal first thing I learned how to draw!! Anyway warmups tomorrow and then I'll get back into it daily.

I think if you upload a YouTube short capitalizing on gacha game drama then you should at least use your real voice and not an AI voice riddled with grammatical mistakes. This is the definition of slop. No, it's bigger than slop. It's sloppenhemer. This shit is radioactive.

ProtonVPN is free btw. I'd pay for it though, you don't know what they're doing with your data on the free plan or whether they're actually based in Switzerland like they say. But I've seen guys even more tech savvy than me recommending it.

Slowly, painfully redoing a from-scratch body model I'd worked on months ago. I've practically redone it from scratch and I'm still not done... but the topology is looking better even if my technique sucks. I might be a better 2D artist than 3D now.

I think I've strengthened the neurons I dedicated to drawing just enough that I can take a short break from it. I was practicing nearly every day out of habit/addiction and now that I'm at the point where I can realistically begin doing artstyle studies, I'm letting the gray matter rest.

Witch season

I think the biggest revelation to me was something a lot of artists were saying, but in a way that I couldn't understand. They were saying that the horizon/vanishing line doesn't change with camera height. So my brain interprets that as "you can find where the horizon is by camera position".

I never expected this of myself, but now that I think about it, it makes total sense. It turns out when I see people that are better at me at something, I mimic them in my quest to become better at that thing, thus learning how to do it in the process. That's why I've been following so many artists.

When you hate a finished piece so much you abandon it to gain more power just to come back and basically redraw it entirely, but better.

Learning that feet are similar to hands, just some dangly bits emerging from rounded fat pads arranged in a very specific way and muscles/bones visible on top. Don't ask how I'm finding this out. Anyway Iuno just released on Wuthering Waves...
