Wild Garlic (Allium ursinum) It grows well in shady damp woodlands and is great as a Spring pollinator. It spreads by seed and underground bulbs. When taking photographs please watch where you stand/kneel as not to damage this wonderful plant

Wild Garlic (Allium ursinum) While Wild Garlic looks and tastes great to us (if you like garlic!) it can be deadly to both cats and dogs, and all parts of the plant are toxic. The sulphur compound can cause hemolytic anaemia

Wild Garlic (Allium ursinum) Humans can also eat Wild Garlic and it can be used in a number of dishes, as well as made into garlic butter. It can be confused with Lily of the Valley (deadly if eaten) but does not smell of garlic when crushed

Wild Garlic (Allium ursinum) Allium refers to garlic and ursinum refers to bear or bear like, deriving from Ursus, meaning bear. This comes from bears observed eating wild garlic after waking from hibernation

Dandelions (Taraxacum) are resilient, edible perennials that are vital early-season food for insects and support around 50 different species. All parts are edible, rich in nutrients, and have a bitter taste, but not something I’ve ever tried

Dandelions are such recognisable flowers, even after the flower head has gone and the “clock” of fluffy seed heads remain. As a kid I remember helping disperse the seeds by trying to blow every seed from the stem!

I do love Cherry Blossom and I’m lucky that some of the streets near me are lined with Cherry Blossom trees. It is also Japan’s unofficial national flower (桜, sakura)

As we move into Spring (yeah forget about the storms, snow, hail etc) nature bursts into life with birds singing and blossom blooming. Here’s a dip into the archive of some blossom.

Nothing like going out just after the rain (Or getting caught in it!) Here this tree was shot through the raindrop covered branches of a tree in front, creating the mass of bokeh balls

Another weekend and no chance to get out and some stinky weather so a dip back into the archive for this week’s images. These two twisted trees were shot up at Padley Gorge, a bit of a mecca for woodland photography, but also for Roe Deer, Green Woodpeckers and Pied Flycatchers to name a few

A dip into the archive for today's post. I came across this ivy clinging on to a painted metal water tank outside a cottage on one of my countryside wanders. Poking the camera through the hedge I was able to get some shots of this colourful subject

This time of year, with the trees still mostly bare, the sunlight creates light and shadow across the misty lake

The night before there had been a fair bit of rain and water clung to the branches in the morning, glistening like diamonds in the sunlight
