Drupal + DDEV includes Mailpit by default. All outgoing emails are captured so you can test without sending real emails. Access Mailpit with: $ ddev describe Then open the Mailpit URL to view captured messages.

. I did a from-scratch setup and demo of DDEV on one yesterday,

Import/export Drupal databases in DDEV: $ ddev import-db --file=db.sql.gz $ ddev export-db > db.sql.gz $ ddev import-files --source=files.zip DDEV handles gzipped files and places everything in the right location.
